I can think of a hell of a lot more important indicators of
REAL development.

so if the govt spend all the money on free education, where will revenue come from to fund healthcare? or even continue the free education program Tongue
we can always borrow more money from the IMF right?

well in the city that i live in, we invested money in building infrastructure and inviting coperate businesses to come build their skyscrapers and headquarters with us. our city have grown rapidly since the past decade now, the mayor is now tackling public education. i think there's  a reason why he didn't go for education first. i don't know the reason though.
do you?  Huh

oh well it's all complicated politics.

Ahh my love for architecture is indescribable, I have even started desgining my own buildings

* People just jump to conclusions without properly researching everything
* The new high rises that are been proposed by Asian firms, will be used to house average people
* Highrise apartments are more affordable than regular lowrise structures
* They don't require as much land
* It beautifies the environment, and makes it a place worth visiting, thus enhancing the areas local economy and pours money, really!!
* These structures are mostly funded by private companies, and are in the best interests of the average Nigerian.

Why not appreciate something if it looks good, I wasn't born to complain and dwell in place shouded with negativety.
Highrises are a way of celebrating humanity, and If you can't see te good in them, then you obviously don't like life and in that case you need therapy

I don't get you, but what do you mean by it's not suited to Nigeria, that's just degenerate bull.
They are as suitable in Naija as they are in Gotham city. The comapnies that will build these buildings are experienced firms that will surely look after their own buildings, DUH!!!!!

I don't challenge my teachers in authing, because you shouldn't make a statement or ask a question if it won't benefit you in anyway.

This Pic was taken 2005 Cheesy

There are great plans for Lagos, The CBD will have all the major roads refilled or completely rebuilt, the abandoned buildings will be turned into entertainment centres and the whole scenery will be beautified

Lagos isn't going to loose it's title as "Nigeria's Financial Capital" anytime soon Wink

do you have any proove to your claims?
'cause sometimes they really sound outlandish.

the 2005 pic looks like those buildings are in serious need of furnishing/ maintainance work. they look really dull and decaying with the exception of the tallest one and the one on the far right, and the two small ones in the center.

Good job anyways, Mr Architect Dblock  Smiley

A lot of the buildings are abandoned, but The Lagos state Government, alongside the World Bank and Asian firms are drawing up a Lagos Master Plan. estates are planned, highrise apartments, casinos, etc. If Nigeria get's a good president this year, those things we'll be built Wink.
Lagos was the financial capital before I was born, and it seems to me it's a going to be quite a while before it loses that Title. Also work on Broad street has started Wink
