Cypri Gold Caplets
« on: March 01, 2007, 01:21 PM »

There was a time i was really under stress due to the nature of my work.i went to the pharmacy and i spoke with the pharmacist who is also a doctor,he gave me some multivitamin drugs which included cypri gold.i take the drugs frequently and they are really working but what i notice is that,i've started adding weight, not really too much but i've noticed that my jeans trousers are so tight that i have to start forcing myself into it.when i discussed it with my friends, she said that it was the the effect of the cypri gold.
DOCTORS IN THE HOUSE!WHAT DO U THINK?SHOULD I STOP USING IT OR COULD U TELL ME THE SIDE EFFECTS?

I believe the multivitamins you're taking, including the Cypri Gold, have apetite stimulating properties. You most probably would have noticed that u were begining to eat more. So that explains the weight aspect. If this persists u can either adopt an exercise regimen to help u cope with the weight and evn the stress or take a break from the multivitamins. And make sure you eat right too. Keep me posted of any changes.

cypri gold i believe contains cyproheptadine an Anti histamine, H1 antagonist also a serotoniin antagonist, it has anti allergy and appetite stimulating properties. side effects include drowsiness, excessive sweating, blurred vision, tinnitus fatigue rigors, headaches etc,
one thing should be known though,
going to see a pharmacist who is also a doctor? Huh
those are two distinct proffessions lady, its kinda fishy, not common to see someone study pahrn for 5years then go back to school for another 6 for medicine, you may have been had.
stress isnt managed with multivitamins my dear, its very wrong approach and a common misconception in nigeria
and it aint good coming down hard on someone who prescribed rest, its the best treatment and may i alert you to the danger of taking that drug if you have any chance of being pregnant
cheers, lets all be friends ok, no harsh words.
gnight.

That sounds scaring. I normally give my  3-year old son cypri gold syrup( ie when he looses his appetite). Does that mean i should stop it? What's the best multi- vitamin syrup for him?
Thanks.

fisrt,  you must know,
all drugs have side effects, try reading the little leaflet in the drug pack and you'll probably get scared of using any drug in your lifetime!
That being said, its usually not neccesary to induce appetite in children,. if they are not eating , find out why, it may be illnesses, anxiety, attention deficit, habits, food preferences etc and infact most kids wont require multivitamins if they eat right, more fruits and less junk,
i have found out the nigerians love for medications that make them 'stronger'. Especially blood tonics, you must know that Iron absorption is regulated and you only absorb when you need it, so if you arent anemic, taking blood tonic is just a waste as you'll pass out all you swallow in your black feces,
By the way, take your kid to a pediatrician and have him/her checked out
all the best

Cypri Gold and other drugs like Super Apeti contains Cyproheptadine, an appetite stimulant which makes you feel drowsy.

You have been eating too much due to the use of this drug. if you wanna cut down your weight, you need to stop taking the drug so u wont eat much and get f fa fat!   Tongue
