@ Lifted,
Welldone for the good job,i'm an Alumni of LAUTECH.

But i think i should remember my sec school anthem, the name of my school is OLIVET BAPTIST HIGH SCHOOL OYO.

The foresight of God's own people
  A new school created
Where the truth of God and academics knowledge.
  Shall feature noble men
And heroes of our land and school.
As the motto re-echoes "CUM CHRISTO PROGEDERE"
By the highway stands the school
  Clearly visible to passersby
  Creating memories,preparing for the future
  Olivet Heights my school
  Oh my school,my school OLIVET
Refrain: OLIVET
  My school OLIVET
May the lord God bless thee
  Olivet heights 4x
  OLIVET
  Up school Up Olivet.

God bless my alma matter.

Hi,

Am new to this website. I saw that someone posted the FGGC, Oyo schl anthem. Its a bit different from what we sang when i was there (that makes me sound old, doesnt it, lol!). I graduated in 1996.

The anthem went like this:

FGGC, Oyo
I greet thee
breeding ladies worth and great
The land of music, knowledge and truth like a garland of roses
brightening horizons of Owinni Hills
showing lands low and high
revealing a finest vison

FGGC Oyo
Pro unitate
Grant in me the full knowledge of life in depth
let me forever reflect thee
make of me a noble woman
a symbol of God's creation

I attended Federal University of Technology Akure Staff Primary School and i can still remember the first verse or so:

Futa staff school is our school(2x)
we are proud of futa staff school,
for qualitative education and better turn out,
futa staff school is our school

Thereafter i attended the Great UNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL, ADO EKITI in then Ondo state of Nigeria, i think the athem goes like this:

Unity, ado ekiti is our school(2x)
to live in peace and harmony with my fellow students and members of the staff,
my alma mata, i love you, i love my alma mata,
to respect others opinion,
to unite nigeria and ondo state in particular,
and with the help of God am determined, to acheive this goal

Hi people,
Zigbo,I'm representing FGGC Owerri, in this forum. The anthem you wrote out is not entirely correct but thanks for the hype Smiley. These are the first and last stanzas. I've made corrections below:

The guns of battle were all silent

the smoke of destruction blown away

the lips of  war were sealed and

                                 the scarring almost healed

when our school  was born to herald a new day

Nigeria we all make thee a promise

to serve thee with strength of might and grace

to build and not break down

                                 bury quarells in the ground

so that those who died may not have gone in vain

Its said that our school was once a war front thats why the anthem is the way it is. It was built to be a symbol of unity and a light of hope. Can anyone keep a secret? I LOVE MY ALMA MATER. FGGC Owerri IS a great school. It breaks my heart whenever I think of the deplorable state of unity schools. I know it thought me a whole lot I may never have learnt anywhere else. I'm proud to be a product of that school. Who wouldn't?

Next,I went to Nnamdi Azikiwe University,Awka.
This is our anthem. The first and last stanzas:

Hail Unizik!
Pride of the state and our nation
Fountain of knowledge and of wisdom
Source of our hope and confidence
Where freedom through,education we gain
With reverence,
We honour you

Our Unizik! Our unizik!
Where we learn,discipline!
Self reliance and excellence
Great Unizik!
We do hail you
We do hail you!

Thank you!

Illustrious sons who rose to fame The scions of their days Brought glory and unfading praise To Alma Mater's name With these in thankful voice we sing Our hymn of jubilee Raise upon high our joyful glee Deo et Patriae
