There was no error message given. The thing is that oracle dialog box is shown then later on it disappears. Nothing happens after all.

I have successfully installed Oracle 10g on a Windows XP machine without any problems.

It is possible that the distribution you are using is corrupt so if possible, can you try starting the installation on another machine just to see if it works.  Alternatively you could download a fresh distribution from Oracle's website although I appreciate that this this may not be practical if you don't have access to a fast internet connection due to the size of the distribution.

i hope you computer meets specifications for oracle 10g installation, well you know it's definately hard to help you from  out here, it will have to be a hand-on-lab stuff and since no errors are generated that even makes it more difficult to troubleshoot the problem.

Hi orcale database 10g will test the configuration requirements of your system, then if your system meets the requirements, the installation will continue.
hope your system has a minimun of 512 MB of RAM but I GB is recommended for optimal performance.I have installed orcale 10g successfully on a windox xp system and it's running well.

you can get back if there are other issues.

Your problem is requirements. Your system do not meet the required hardware and software specifications. Post your hardware specification here to futher help you.

It is most likely that you have not installed Java before you start the installation wizard. Anyway, if it did not see Java it will install its own Java.
