First it was Yar' Adua being flown to Germany for catarrh. Now Atiku is gone to london to treat dislocation. hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Hope the times and businessdayonline don't carry atiku's death tomorrow. Watch out! http://www.punchontheweb.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200703122143562 Atiku injured, flown to London By Simon Ekpe, John Alechenu and Musikilu Mojeed Published: Monday, 12 Mar 2007
Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was on Sunday injured while having an exercise in a gymnasium at his residence in Abuja.
ounger brother. I immediately wished him well and wished him safe recovery. We thank God he Our correspondents gathered that the vice-president had gone to the gymnasium at about 12.10pm, after a breakfast stock-taking meeting with his campaign strategists.
It was learnt that midway into the exercise, Abubakar tripped on one of the machines he was using.
A source, who spoke in confidence with one of our correspondents, said, “The VP had dislocation on his knee and it became instantly difficult for him to walk.
“First Aid treatment was initially given to him but when the impact of the dislocation was much, his doctor was immediately invited to attend to him.
“By 4pm, the knee had swelled up and he could not manage himself again.
“He was advised to go abroad for treatment.
“He is likely to leave Abuja in the night (Sunday) for London, where a hospital has been contacted to attend to him.”
The source added that President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was briefed on the VP’s condition, approved that he should be flown abroad in a presidential jet.
“The Presidency decided that Abubakar should be flown to the London and he (Obasanjo) will take charge of everything on his health as the nation’s number two leader.
“The issue of the Vice-President’s health transcends any political intrigue. We are giving the vice-president his constitutional due.”
In a chat with one of our correspondents on the telephone at about 8pm, the vice-president confirmed that he was travelling abroad for treatment.
Abubakar said, ”I broke my knee tendon. I was doing my normal exercise in my gym. You know I told you I was going for an x-ray. The result came out and we realised that I had broken my knee tendon.
”I will need a 30-minute surgery but unfortunately they can‘t handle it here. It is a pity that they can‘t handle it here. So, I arranged for an aircraft to take me to London for the operation. I will leave later this night. But the President has been gracious enough to give me an aircraft. He has released my aircraft to me.
”So, Insha Allah, I will leave tonight and arrive London tomorrow (Monday) morning and immediately proceed to the hospital for the operation. I hope to be back on Tuesday or Wednesday to resume my campaign.”
Asked of the extent of the injury, he said, ”It is not a big deal. Do not let anybody deceive you that it is something serious.
“You saw me this afternoon and now you are speaking with me. You can see for yourself that there is nothing seriously wrong with me.
“I have asked the Director-General of our campaign organisation to join you so I will go and have my x-ray. Otherwise, it is no big deal, it is not another Umoru Yar‘ Adua’s case.

God have mercy!!! “He is likely to leave Abuja in the night (Sunday) for London, where a hospital has been contacted to attend to him.” The source added that President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was briefed on the VP’s condition, approved that he should be flown abroad in a presidential jet. “The Presidency decided that Abubakar should be flown to the London and he (Obasanjo) will take charge of everything on his health as the nation’s number two leader. A mere dislocation of the knee and the VP has to charter an aircraft to fly to London? Is it that these men who spent 8 yrs budgeting funds for our health care system no longer trust the labour of their hands or they know they did nothing? Is Atiku claiming that our health care system is so bad that he cannot even trust the National hospital in Abuja to treat a mere sprain in his knee? Is this the man who bestrode our economy for 8 yrs and is fighting to lead us for another 4 yrs? So he can continue junketing to London any time he sprains a joint? Do these people care about where ordinary Nigerians turn to for help anytime they sprain their own knees? If Atiku can not trust Nigerian doctors, is he sparing a thought for the over 150million Nigerians who cannot afford to hop into presidential aircraft to London to treat a sprained joint?

KOLOMENTA, NIgerian Hospital is not good enough for this people and they want to rule us. This people see us as Animal Action speak louder than voice.Atiku and Yar'Adua jetting off abroad for medical treatments in an election period has a lot to say. Even Pat Utomi sent his children abroad to study with the excuse that Nigeria is not safe. Oil money, whatelse??? If Nigeria had no oil wealth, these men will surely be abroad with their families.

Saw it this morning as well. Lord help us! If presidential candidates don't trust this country enough to treat themselves, I wonder what'll happen to the common man how has little or no money to do likewise. The funny thing is that the 2 candidates are a part of the present government and this only points at their incapabilities in taking the nation forward. If Yaradua had reformed the medical sector in Katsina state, he would not have needed to be flown out for medical checkup. Same goes for Atiku. It's really a shame for Nigeria.

Atiku's condition could be remedied effectively with the services provided by specialist butchers who have reccommended a radical amputation and decapitation procedure that can be carried out in any available stall at the fly-infested Berger Cow Market on the outskirts of beautiful downtown Lagos, Nigeria, a place which will soon eclipse London or Germany as the choice destination for Nigerian looters in need of trial-and-error medical attention.

Whatelse can't these people fly abroad for now? Any small thing, fly abroad. Flying abroad for plastic surgery isn't new to us anymore. Then for medical checkup for a kidney problem (this one is still even a little bit acceptable) and now it is a knee sprain and it is straight to London. Whatelse are they going to start flying abroad for again. The money they should have used to develop the nation is what they are using to jet around the whole place. They talk about abroad as if they are just going to the next city. May GOD deliver us o.

Only yesterday I raised concerns on this same issue in the topic "No reason to celebrate Yaradua's return", this people refuse to sort out our hospitals in the hope of flying abroad when they are ill. Nigerians who can't be flown abroad will die for the same illness. This goes a long way to summarise how much they love us. The services they provide to Nigerians are not good enough for them abi? ? Who wants to eat a meal that even the cook can not eat? ?? I have always been a critic of Niger-Delta militants but if this is what leadership is about tell me how those boys should trust any leader by laying down their arms in the hope of getting development in return. No atom of sincerity on the part of our leaders, this is shear betrayal of trust. Asari Dokubo should be released immediately because there is no point keeping him in prison for treason charges when our leaders are providing us with services not good enough for them. This is the height of betrayal.

Atiku in a gym at 60+, fat, ugly and old. What the heck?
Atiku's doctor must have been bribed to refer him abroad.
No knee injury, my friend!!!. It's Atiku's way of getting attention.
Never mind, Atiku want to get a rousing welcome like Yar'Adua. He fears Yar'Adua took the shine off him.
Game of politics

@shutmouth, Atiku doesnt need anybody or anything to get attention, he's already a political legend and icon unlike buhari thats relying on obj,s backing and da Yaradua dynasty. And yu sayn Atiku shouldnt be going to the gym cos he's no longer young speaks volumes of your level of stupidity. Who says only young pipo should be at da gyms. If you dont have anything better to say, i'll advise you just shutmouth as ya name implies! DUH!!!

Hey hey hey, brothers and sisters, let's not allow the madness of these people to spoil our day o. Let's take it easy with one another abeg. It won't be nice when they are sipping champagne aboard international flights to treat themselves and we are here fighting. Back to the topic. It is quite tempting to believe that maybe our presidential candidates are having a contest o. Let's have a look 1. Yar'Adua - Trip to Germany for checkup on kidney problem (though his own has been a regular thing before now) 2. Atiku - Trip to London for Knee sprain Only GOD knows what we should be expecting from the other contenders. 3. Buhari 4. Orji Kalu 5. Chris Okotie 6. Pat Utomi Also, it seems the lower they are placed the more unsensible the excuse for their foreign trips. Only GOD knows what it will be by the time it gets to the last person on the list. just wondering Hope it won't get as bad as going abroad to check body temperature. Let's just keep our fingers crossed, let the comedy continue.

Bola Uchendu malami has broken knee tendon. what happens? who flies him abroad? he simply goes to nearby clinic if he can pay. These clowns travel abroad at the drop of a hat and every silly excuse. why does he have to travel to treat something as silly as a non life- threatening simple injury. Until all these presnet crop of politicians older 45 are disposed of (whatever way) This nation will not move forward

So Nigeria is not cursed, but our leaders are.
