Proudly Nigerian

why do our nigerian artistes[ a good example is marvellous benjy in swo remix] fly the colours- yellow red and green. to moi it means jamaican/jamoo. to them its fertilit, have you ever seen a jamaican musician ever where the colours green white green. don't you think its high time we start promoting nigeria.
looking at websites i commend seun osewa of this site for using a green white wgreen background but can't he wave the flag on one corner or at least the coats of arms/a thousand naira note[nairaland]. Banks websites and other nigerian sites fail to honor nigeria even some top nigerian icons sites do not promote nigeria. when would we start promoting this country.
the heart of africa project by frank nweke is a good point in boosting nigeria's image abroad. it should be supported by nigerians in diaspora and home.
i think its time we syop giving nigeria a negative name and promote the positive side of our country. all those negative comments by CNN should be seriously attacked as it is an insult to the country as a whole and to all nigerians.
and our websites and musicians should fly naija.

@ ibkn

i understand where you're coming from but you're judging/handling the mater in a/the wrong way in my opinion

Yes we all should help in the promotion of our country Nigeria, but it has very little to do with which flag you carry around or whose face is on the shirt you're wearing

I love genevieve nnaji but i don't feel i have to be putting on a shirt with her name instead of celine dion's name to prove i love Nigeria, because i don't believe that by advertising it that way, people will authomatically change their opinion about the coruption in our country Sad

just as i don't think a nigerian should be wearing a jersy with okocha's name instead of bckam's name to prove it either

Norway is a very successful country, their welfare and financial system is on the top but i don't see any of them carrying their flags around, they've made a good name for theirselves and it dosen't need an advertisement for people to know that

I guess what we have to do is stand for who we are, make other people understand that there are some good people in our country as well

I know i'm proud to talk to strangers about nigeria, talking about our artists, celebrities, their achievements and the achievements of the country as a whole BUT there's a whole lot more to it

The leadership has a big role to play too, and before they start doing something serious about the system of the countr we might just continue to bear tha bad name.

Can you imagine that even non-nigerian-criminals now claim nigeria as their country *sighs*

We need a miracle Cry Cry Cry

Quite a number of Nigerians are doing a lot to celebrate Nigeria but the image of Nigeria home and abroad no help mata. If u don't start a conversation about the good aspect of Nigeria u'll end up with "oh dre's a lot of fighting in your country", "how come, every scam letter comes from9ja"{ etcetram, etcetram.

You talk about Nigeria image, how many 9jas abroad teach their children the language? Don't a number of people travel away to born pickin in order to have a 'refined' nationality?

Instead of asking Obasanjo and his cohort to wash the very dirty Nigeria attire, you and I got to advocate for the positive aspect in our little corners
