Two principles - reciprocating mass and aero lift.

Reciprocating mass is an occurrence that refers to a body that is forced to reverse direction while moving.  In other words, vibrating system with varying inertia because the effective inertia of the total oscillating mass.  If you are running at 5000RPM, each of the pistons must make a reverse of 10000 times in a minute.  This robs you of power/torque.  The ideal engine is always a 6 cylinder setup in performance and dynamics.  A Maxima chassis designed for an optimised 6 cylinder engine cannot damp a V8 engine designed that can output 300+ MPH.  It will begin to oscillate in the cavity between the surfaces of the engine seat and chassis due to dynamic deformation that will be created.  Most ductile metals other than steel do not have a well defined Yield Criterion point.  That is why engineers get paid the money they are paid to do their jobs.  You will need a vibration damper for guiding the damping mass linearly along the path of oscillation and it’s no picnic to enginuate.  Many manufacturers don’t make it possible for engine swaps within model lines because of this phenomenon.

At that speed, there is what is termed “excess undercar lift” or aerodynamic lift.  The car becomes light on its four axles.  Meaning, the weight or force to the ground decreases as velocity increases.  In this case, the force of the lift exceeds the weight of the object.  The Maxima is a feather-weight vehicle.  When designing a vehicle, the ideal balance of lift, down-force and drag is becomes very critical before the vehicle goes into production.

The truth is that in all reciprocating engines there are certain critical speeds of running at which the torsional vibrations in the shaft become large in amplitude and introduce an element of danger into the system.

Where is Chief please,  or can anyone tell me if @ 300km/h if a pic is taken via ur windscreen ,  the output turns WHITE,  Well as for me,  I dare speeds when d motor can take it,  I have pulled a camry on that bridge @ 150Km/h,  I tell u,  that bridge is no smooth anymore,  talking about speed,  I have made Warri to Benin (96km)  in less than 40mins in an air-tight V-booth. Highest speed attained was 190km/h,  I see clear!! ,  but for the farmers wey fit cross road @ anytime etc make me no kick am finish,  But as for 300km/h on 3rd M bridge,  hmmm Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed

@chiefoh,
because of you, the govt will put speed breakers on that bridge, so that you won't go for 350k/hr and kill yourself and peeps will blame govt for your death Cheesy
