I happen to be in the technical department in my church. We make use of a JVC camcorder to record church services and events. we then use a DVD recorder to transfer the movies from the JVC camcorder unto a dvd.
Recently, we decide to started selling some of the DVD's but they look somehow professional. as we would like to include introductions (like the ones u see before a movie starts- names of people who did the movies and stuffs like animation). i thought about a crude method (which saved the day at least!). What i did was to do most of the text and foto animations in powerpoint, and position and focus the camera unto the laptop screen in a light controlled environment( we swtiched off some of d lights), and recorded it as a introdutcion to the main video on the DVD.
Since i am the IT consultant for my church( i do webdesigns and some bit of help desk, trust me i dnt knw much am learning), i feel i could do more but i need advise as to where i can start. someone told me i need to do that in imovie but i just don't know how. i mean,, hw do i connect a jvc camera to a PC or should i ask if its possible to edit movies and do some bits of multimedia on a computer rather than taking it to a studio??.
Please i need your contributions. I'll really appreciate it
With the software you can create DVD menus, chapters, intros etc, in short you can create professional looking DVD presentations easily.
You'll also need a DVD burner and a fairly high end PC.
What model is your JVC camcorder ? The one i have is a digital video camera and you can connect it to a PC via a USB cable or through firewire (which is a lot faster than USB). If you can't connect either way then you need a TV output card in your PC, this will allow you to connect your camera and then record to your PC's hard disk.
Once you have it on your hard disk (in MPEG or AVI format) you can then edit and modify it with any video editing software (or the one i mentioned earlier) and then copy it to DVD using a DVD burner.
