1. turn off the phone
2. hold "*"+"3"+"green button" then press power on
3. keep holdin til the phone boots
on nokia 6600 u would see a formating progress bar
on others it would just take longer to boot but it would be all formated as brand nu when it comes on

*While ur phone is on it @ about 3-4secs, remove d battery.

i've got a little trick here; to restart ur phone without pressing buttons just hurl it against a concrete wall or drop it with its head onto the concrete floor, i'm sure it would restart automatically. i'm not a very patient person so dnt like going through the procedure of switching my phone on and off(my phone dnt hv restart function) so if my phone hangs esp while browsing,i do just that and get back to what i'm doing
