Yes, there is a google in yoruba. There's also an on-going effort to translate more google services to Hausa and Yoruba. Unfortunately, Igbo is not being recognizd as a major Nigerian language yet.

Seun, I have wondered how you managed to code your URL in this way <a href="whatever link">google in yoruba</a> and <a href="whatever link"> Hausa and Yoruba</a>. Can you tell me how you have managed it because I cannot see any button that allows that. Please.

Google is a company that have foresight and thats why they are in nigeria today with this language translations, free wireless internet and whatever they might come up with ,these will at the long run benefit them financialy and also we nigerians.
The fact is that the more language google is able to translate the more the audience would increase and that would reflect in their advertisement reach ,yeah it will bring even more company wanting to advertise in google because of their reach, remember our NTA ,u can't be the reach ,same goes here .
Therefore i don't think google have don eany wrong here ,they can't speack igbo ,yoruba or hausa or even any other nigerioans language ,if any gibo man shoudl prove to google just like some yoruba proffesor must have done ,then google would jump to the idea and offer their sevices in igbo language because it will be beneficial to the business ,
So you see, google is looking for nigerians to come up with translators. Yoruba man can't stop Igbo man from getting his language translated by google. Hausa man can't stop Yoruba man from doing the same and so on so forth,
So Igbo man have himself to blame here and I don't think its matter of not having people that can translate it, but the thing is who have the willpower to come up and start it?
Same applies to other tribes of Nigeria.

Google or no google, everything will happen just the way they should, i dont even see a need for the google, the fact that yoruba has it shouldnt bother anyone, people should concern themselves with better issues

Yeah I agree but do we really need it? How many nigerians can read and write their native language without being able to read and write english. Of those Nigerians, ho many of them use the internet regularly. BBC has got a Hausa site : http://www.bbc.co.uk/hausa/ but I often wonder how many people actually use it?

Yes, there is a google in Yoruba. There's also an on-going effort to translate more google services to Hausa and Yoruba. Unfortunately, Igbo is not being recognized as a major Nigerian language yet
You people are so naive and anxious to the purpose of things in life. That Igbo language is not included in the google phonetic library does not mean that Igbo language is not recognized.
In fact if any Nigeria tribe that should be recognized in the USA is the Igbos. To be more specific if any Nigeria man that should be recognized in diaspora, are the Igbos. We started travelling and doing business before any other tribes in Nigeria. Apart from London, where else would you find a Yoruba person?
The Yoruba's was given grants and visa to travel and study, while we the Igbos were given less attention regarding travelling and education grants. If you look at this link you will see when we actually start travelling and some of us started reading and studying Mathematics.
Like Dr Chike Obi and others who pioneered the periodic solutions of non-linear ordinary differential equations and other related periodic solutions. To create a common and simple characterset for Igbo language would not be any difficult thing. If I saw any need towards Igbo language I will personally develop the library and pass it to google.
It is dead easy to develop. I wonder the significant Yoruba goggle thing has been since its introduction. We youth are loosing our tribal language when we are forced to learn English Language to infinity.
I personally do not see any relevance to googling either in Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. I have never seen any job that you must speak and write Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa. It is just a personal thing.
If you are interested in developing characterset for you language, all you need to do is decided how many bits you would need to hold a character in the memory. I would recommend at least 16bits.
Correlate your bits with ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) for compatability that is it. What is so difficult in it? Google in Yoruba my foot. No disrespect to the people of Yoruba.
