If you think along those lines, then marriage is slavery. You are bonded for the rest of your life and you're not getting paid.

I completely agree with you. Since someone is not paid, what would he gain from marriage. Marriage is then a useless form of slavery.

If you say then that marriage is done 4 love, then y would you also say that other things done 4 love = prostitution.

If i use the parameters of those comments above,
1 Either you're getting paid by the hour for marriage
2 Or you are using yourself in a very useless and cheap form of slavery that has nothing in return for you, but one in which you're commiting your life (and indeed your whole life span) into. You are enslaving your self and you are even cheaper than a slave who gets paid meger money b/because u get paid nothing, so u are cheaper than slaves too

For the first time in history, I have to agree with nferyn. Cheesy

I don't exactly understand what you agree with him on but i premarital sex may not be prostitution per see but it is selling yourself short of your worth, and sex in marriage is nothing compared to outside it, women who use it as a weapon against their husbands need some reorientation

For me to marry a prostitute?, ah well e go tey o  Cool

@ nicetohave, i am just using the parameters the guys gave above.

The truth is you cannot say that premarital sex= prostitution because that would imply that all the things we do in life its either we are getting payed or we then are cheap wastes ( and marriage 4 sure is included).

If the sacrifices in marriage are done neither for the hourly pay nor is it a cheap waste of our lives (devoting our time to somebody {unless you're trying to say that the payment comes from the sex in the marriage} unconditionally, then how can u classify anyother thing we do in life into 2 simple categories of get paid by the hour or your a cheap waste

Actually you can't do that, i agree with you; it will be more like splitting (in psychiatry) and in reality life is not always GOOD and BAD, oftentimes there are middle lines; i just want to emphasize the fact that premarital sex is not the best choice and it is different from prostitution and marriage is the only reason sex was introduced and not otherwise.

it is so funny how people could lose their sense of logic.

everyone knows what prostitution is. u sleep with someone solely for commercial gain and u probably (and may be not) survive on that. those who chase aristos are prostitutes (u don't need a brothel or street side to practise one).

sleeping with a lecturer for a better grade is not prostitution. so also is creaming with your boyfriend. marriage is an honorable institution and it is so funny that someone could assume that his/her mother is a damned prostitute. Na wa o!

i hope people won't lose their sense of directions in future posts if not they could do better by keeping their fingers off the keyboard.

You people take all of this way too seriously. I was just saying that if you agree with the reasoning about pre-marital sex being prostitution, you would have to conclude that marriage is slavery. Not something I think it is  Wink

On the other hand, there is nothing bad about prostitution per se. It can have some nasty side-effects, though. Now, assuming the theoretical case where I would be in a position to marry a (former) prostitute. Would I?

I honestly don't know. Those side effects would probably prevent me from marrying her, but I know that her having been a prostitute would not be a major factor in my decision.

Considering love in this case,i can say one can marry a prostitute. In a situation whereby she has changed, wont u marry her when u knw u can't do without her? What if u never knew that she used to be a very bad girl before u fell in love wit her?
Falling in love is unpredictable.

Cheesy Grin Grin Cheesy, I laugh out loud, all u guys screaming "I can't marry a prostitute" u make me laugh very hard,
If u see fine girl, hour glass shape, well maintained (by sugar daddies, still prostitution), even
if she says see what/ how I end up looking this good, some of u will say forget all that, it was in the
past, I love u and it shld cover a multitude of sins, u'll marry the girl. As far as I'm concerned "most" men
look at the physical and not the inner beauty, so a whore is rich and doesn't stand on sidewalks, u'll marry her.
So forget all those stories u spin, afterall when things get hard, some men even encourage their wives/G.F to prostitute
in order to help them out, so what happens after she has done that for u?

Oh I forgot, comparing pre-marital sex with prostitution is just razz, how about married couple that end up
divorcing with will u call that, good enough that angle of the talk has been killed but do not judge others jst
because u don't do things they do, let them be, remember we all have our load to carry, whatever the consequences
of their actions, they live with it not u, all we can do is support them and not mock or laugh at them because "what goes around
comes around" that na my own bit sha.

I think it all depends on anyones definition of a prostitute. Mine is simple, if you have slept with someone in exchange for any favor, then you are by definition a prostitute. Now it will be interesting to see how many people here haven't.

"Prostitution is the sale of sexual services (examples: oral sex, sexual intercourse) for money or favor. In a more general sense of the word, anyone selling their services for a cause thought to be unworthy can be described as prostituting themselves"

You may feel strongly about this or not, but chances are that if you are so much against or for it is because in your most recent pastlife you were a male or dfemale prostitute yourself! And you no what, you can visit your pastlife to confirm that. If you care, every night before you drift off to sleep ask: Lord Show me Truth.

Unfortunately all vices once acquired remain latent. While most people will not consider marrying an active prostitute, it appears this post considers the possibility of marrying a former prostitute. My opinion is once a prostitute, always a prostitute. Given the proper incentives, the vice will re-manifest itself.

What do I mean in plain English? If you have cash and marry a prostitute and hit a bump on the road, that is when the tough times come, she will have very limited reason (rationalizing) to ride the rough waters with you.

So as you consider the possibilities for my liberal friends out there semantics are nice but life is hard road. Marriage is a commitment for life. Both parties must understand that there will be good times and bad, a person that views sex, her body and her life as leisurely as a prostitute will unfortunately not made a good wife and that what you look for when you look for a wife.

@ Pendelite

... meaning that by inference from what you've written, that prostitutes should never get married, since they will always revert to their former disposition?? Huh

If I've interpreted your former submission, then I must say I strongly disagree....

And you base your assessment on what exactly? Do you have any data supporting your assertion that former prostitutes will always go back to their former employment?

To my prostitute friends out there, I never said you should not get married, I just said that everyone else should consider you as a last choice. If a man had a choice between a woman that values herself and one that does not, he should choose a woman that knows that her body and her soul can not be purchased for another’s pleasure.

On the question of if prostitutes will return to the former activities, this is based on the laws of probability. I can provide additional empirical evidence if you require it.  The fact that someone devalues themselves for material gain is indicative of the possibility that if the opportunity presents itself such a person will have no reservation in profiting from it.

It is most unfortunate that poverty not opportunism is the excuse used by young men and women to engage in this act, however labels say very little for a decadent attitude amongst today’s youth. Prostitution is an act of choice, you look at yourself, value yourself and give up yourself for material gain. The option always exists for one to find another way to solve a problem such as working to pay school fees, attending classes and reading to pass exams. People of easy virtue rarely make good committed partners and that is what marriage is all about.

My prostitute friends can stand on top of the mountain and shout themselves hoarse. Unless they were sold into prostitution they made the choice and are inclined again towards that choice when the opportunity presents itself. Please note that I used the law of probability, which means that they will probably return to this vice and not that they will certainly, always return to the vice. However, it’s up to the person making the choice of marrying a former prostitute to make this determination.

Oya, I have opened a can of worms, we can eat it or kill the worms.

@nferyn , if you have data to support the concept of redeemed prostitutes I would be interested to see it.....

Ezekiel 16
The Lord's Faithless Bride

16:1 Again the word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations, 3 and say, Thus says the Lord God to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are of the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 4 And as for your birth, on the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. 5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you out of compassion for you, but you were cast out on the open field, for you were abhorred, on the day that you were born.

6 “And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 I made you flourish like a plant of the field. And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full adornment. Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare.

8 “When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine. 9 Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. 10 I clothed you also with embroidered cloth and shod you with fine leather. I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk. [1] 11 And I adorned you with ornaments and put bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck. 12 And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13 Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen and silk and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour and honey and oil. You grew exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty. 14 And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God.

15 “But you trusted in your beauty and played the whore [2] because of your renown and lavished your whorings [3] on any passerby; your beauty [4] became his. 16 You took some of your garments and made for yourself colorful shrines, and on them played the whore. The like has never been, nor ever shall be. [5] 17 You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of men, and with them played the whore. 18 And you took your embroidered garments to cover them, and set my oil and my incense before them. 19 Also my bread that I gave you—I fed you with fine flour and oil and honey—you set before them for a pleasing aroma; and so it was, declares the Lord God. 20 And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your whorings so small a matter 21 that you slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them? 22 And in all your abominations and your whorings you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, wallowing in your blood.

23 “And after all your wickedness (woe, woe to you! declares the Lord God), 24 you built yourself a vaulted chamber and made yourself a lofty place in every square. 25 At the head of every street you built your lofty place and made your beauty an abomination, offering yourself [6] to any passerby and multiplying your whoring. 26 You also played the whore with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, multiplying your whoring, to provoke me to anger. 27 Behold, therefore, I stretched out my hand against you and diminished your allotted portion and delivered you to the greed of your enemies, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd behavior. 28 You played the whore also with the Assyrians, because you were not satisfied; yes, you played the whore with them, and still you were not satisfied. 29 You multiplied your whoring also with the trading land of Chaldea, and even with this you were not satisfied.

30 “How lovesick is your heart, [7] declares the Lord God, because you did all these things, the deeds of a brazen prostitute, 31 building your vaulted chamber at the head of every street, and making your lofty place in every square. Yet you were not like a prostitute, because you scorned payment. 32 Adulterous wife, who receives strangers instead of her husband! 33 Men give gifts to all prostitutes, but you gave your gifts to all your lovers, bribing them to come to you from every side with your whorings. 34 So you were different from other women in your whorings. No one solicited you to play the whore, and you gave payment, while no payment was given to you; therefore you were different.

35 “Therefore, O prostitute, hear the word of the Lord: 36 Thus says the Lord God, Because your lust was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your whorings with your lovers, and with all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children that you gave to them, 37 therefore, behold, I will gather all your lovers with whom you took pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated. I will gather them against you from every side and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness. 38 And I will judge you as women who commit adultery and shed blood are judged, and bring upon you the blood of wrath and jealousy. 39 And I will give you into their hands, and they shall throw down your vaulted chamber and break down your lofty places. They shall strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful jewels and leave you naked and bare. 40 They shall bring up a crowd against you, and they shall stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords. 41 And they shall burn your houses and execute judgments upon you in the sight of many women. I will make you stop playing the whore, and you shall also give payment no more. 42 So will I satisfy my wrath on you, and my jealousy shall depart from you. I will be calm and will no more be angry. 43 Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have enraged me with all these things, therefore, behold, I have returned your deeds upon your head, declares the Lord God. Have you not committed lewdness in addition to all your abominations?

44 “Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will use this proverb about you: ‘Like mother, like daughter.’ 45 You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite. 46 And your elder sister is Samaria, who lived with her daughters to the north of you; and your younger sister, who lived to the south of you, is Sodom with her daughters. 47 Not only did you walk in their ways and do according to their abominations; within a very little time you were more corrupt than they in all your ways. 48 As I live, declares the Lord God, your sister Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. 49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it. 51 Samaria has not committed half your sins. You have committed more abominations than they, and have made your sisters appear righteous by all the abominations that you have committed. 52 Bear your disgrace, you also, for you have intervened on behalf of your sisters. Because of your sins in which you acted more abominably than they, they are more in the right than you. So be ashamed, you also, and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.

53 “I will restore their fortunes, both the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters, and the fortunes of Samaria and her daughters, and I will restore your own fortunes in their midst, 54 that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all that you have done, becoming a consolation to them. 55 As for your sisters, Sodom and her daughters shall return to their former state, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former state, and you and your daughters shall return to your former state. 56 Was not your sister Sodom a byword in your mouth in the day of your pride, 57 before your wickedness was uncovered? Now you have become an object of reproach for the daughters of Syria [8] and all those around her, and for the daughters of the Philistines, those all around who despise you. 58 You bear the penalty of your lewdness and your abominations, declares the Lord.
