I'm sick of hearing people on this forum say that vista can only be run on an 'excessively powered, expensive super system'. I've taken pains here to show how you can assemble a system here in Nigeria to run all versions of Vista with just N50K. The parts and prices were lifted off
www.gafunk.com, a site belonging to one of the biggest computer shops in Otigba.
We'll be assembling a Pentium IV 3ghz system with 1GB RAM, 80GB Hard Disk, 128MB Nvidia Geforce 3 GPU, Pioneer DVD writer, Floppy Drive
here goes. . . .
P IV Casing : N4100
P IV Motherboard and 3ghz processor: N18900
RAM (1GB) : N9000
Nvidia Geforce 3 128MB GPU: N6900
Keyboard + Mouse : N1000 (cheap brands!)
Seagate 80GB HDD: N7000
Pioneer 16x DVD Writer: N4200
floppy drive: N1000all these add up to N52100. Of course you can always save money by cutting out the Floppy DIsk Drive (which is pretty much useless anyway), and if you have older systems (like 99% of us do) you can harvest the mouse and keyboard from there. All these prices can be found at
www.gafunk.com. as these are the listed prices, pricing is recommended to shave off some thousands off the purchase price. This solution does not include a monitor which i feel we can all get from somewhere or the other.
Let's compare this to the microsoft recommended specs for windows vista

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 GB of system memory
40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
WDDM Driver
128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
32 bits per pixel
DVD-ROM drive
Audio Output
Internet access (fees may apply)
Here we can see that the assembled system meets and exceeds the recommended specs in every way! I'm not sure what the unnamed Geforce 3 card can do, but a high end geforce 3 should be directx9 compliant!
So you can see, don't buy into the hype that a system that can run vista must be hyper expensive. this way you get the full vista experience while providing yourself with a somewhat future proof system (unless, of course, you're a high end gamer). perhaps 8-10K more could even get u a core 2 duo motherboard and processor ( i hope)
DISCLAIMER!: In no way am i advertising for Gafunk! I merely used their site as a guide to what you can expect to purchase these in Otigba.
