Barring injuries, Nadal shld wrap this up pretty well. I don't see Djokovic (his main threat) hanging on in a 5 setter on clay.

Jankovic? Doubt it, i don't think Safina will win either - she had a good run winning in Rome but can't see her winning here. I give it to Serena if she brings her A game.

Venus shld just retire.

Nadal whipped Belluci 7-5, 6-3, 6-1. Great game but there are some good lefties out there now. Anyone saw Wayne Odesnick beat Canas?

Guess what! Serena, the favourite, a former champ has been ousted by 27th seeded Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik in the third round. She lost in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).

Ivanovic is through to the fourth round.

Serena lost again . . . becoming a staple now eh. Venus wont go farther than the quarter finals.
Marat Safin is no longer much of a threat, 28 . . . he's just playing to make some more cash and enjoy the game.

Sharapova, Ivanovic now have a good chance of winning this.

Nadal is just imperious!!  Shocked Flogged Niemenen 6-1, 6-3, 6-1

I haven't been watching too much tennis lately until today that was
with the Mathieu-Djokovic match and it would seem Tennis wisdom has been turned
on its head.

They were serving and volleying with such frequency on a clay court  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

I don't like it. . . . . . . . .Those long rallies make the French my favourite major,
and all this play at the net is anathaemic to my palate.

And with back court specialists reigning supreme at Wimbledon,
it would seem that grass is the new clay and vice versa.

lol, I understand what you mean Grin. That means you won't like Gael Monfils's play, he relied a lot on his serves in his last game.

Ana Ivanovic beat Petra Cetkovska 6-0 6-0

Jelena Jankovic is also through to the quarter finals winning in two sets. Schnyder and Navaro through the quarter finals as well.

It shows how mentally tough she is at the moment. She was a game away from crashing out at 3-5 in the second set.  I'm rooting for Jankovic all the way.

My fav men's player will face Gonzo, who beat him the group stage of the Masters Cup last year in the QF.

Sharapova crashing out of Roland Garros is no surprise for me.

I haven't seen her this year, but her foot work on the surface is shall
we say not Dancing with the Stars material.

Those long legs keep getting in the way of sliding towards the ball.

My 'pretty' chic, Kuz got to the SF after easing past Kanepi. She will meet Safina, who dismissed Demtieva 4-6, 7-6, 6-0.

Federer edged Gonzo 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 . He will meet Monfils who beat Ferrer 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Djokovic tries his luck against thrice defending champ, Nadal in the other SF, that would be played on Friday.

Way to go Dinara! I tip her to beat Ivanovic in 3 sets. The women's game is considerably weaker now without Henin, Ivanovic as number 1? C'mon.

Monfils is a moonballer. You wont win anything by being ultra defensive, how he beat Ferrer is still a mystery.

but we all knew it was always going to be a nadal vs federer final,

i just have a funny feeling federer is going to win this one, he's been studying nadal,

but for how long will he be playing second fiddle on clay, if federer doesn't win the french open this year he'll never win it again.

except if someone goes to break nadal's leg,  Grin

Safina/Ivanovic
just what i wanted the moment the Williams were sent home!

me think Safina will win because she has been good but Ivanonic wasnt so bad aganist people fav Jankovic

4 Him, Henin lost the form that made her a real threat last year
she appeared to have lost the will to continue, so thou she played in AO, her presence wasnt felt,
Ivanovic IMO deserves to be No 1 because she is the only player so far to reach 2 grand slam finals. . . .not bad at all

this Monfils guy shld wake up jo Angry

I doubt if you really know tennis beyond watching a few clips of grandslam matches.
Arrogant is not a word that even Nadal-haters would use to describe him. Reserve that for Djokovic.

Safina will win on current form. Ivanovic will crumble to nerves again in the final, she doesnt deserve to be no. 1 IMO.

Too bad for Henin, she goes into the record books as one of the best females to ever play the game.
