You Gave Me You

You taught me how to accept,
You taught me how to forgive.
You taught me what it was like
To actually, truly live.

You showed me what I always wanted,
You always gave me what I need.
You helped me be a better person,
You helped me to succeed.

You didn't give up on me when everyone else did,
You were always there when I needed you the most.
You may be physically far away from me,
In my heart you're always close.

You are my savior in many ways,
You always helped me when no one would.
You always brightened up my day
When no one else could.

You gave me someone to believe in,
You gave me faith in everyday.
You never seem to have left me,
You never once strayed.

You saw me through my darkest hours,
You saw me through my coldest nights.

Without at least a fight.

You told me things would get better
When I didn't think they would,

You taught me to look from a different angle,
