Most Nigerian Women Are Sexually Mutilated And Asexual?
« on: April 10, 2007, 12:13 AM »

I find it interesting that 99% of the contributors here are men. A friend told me today that the nigerian man is selfish in bed, and he generalised that almost all nigerian women are traditionally mutilated when they are young and have a certain part of their anatomy removed in order to curb their sex drive and "keep themselves undefiled" for their husbands.  Sex is a taboo subject.

If this practice is true then I can understand why the women are so afraid to speak up, and the men are defending tradition and using the word of God to cover up their selfishness.

@rica

don't mind Rev.  He is famous on the forum and many have accepted his madness, some even welcome his humour.
He is known as the irreverant rev, the revving rev and other affectionate names.  Go read his contributions and see.
I think he's quieted down quite a bit now.  I wonder why  Grin

Bunch of stuff and nonsense. Get your facts right before making false allegations!

@trini
why are u going by what your friend told u? don't u have your own brain?.
u talking about female circumcision. yes its a problem thats prevalent among countries in Africa. but there are countries like Mali, Somalia, Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia that have this problem far worse than we do. I did not grow up learning that women have to be sexually mutilated. I was taught about sex at school and at home and no its not a taboo subject.

u think u know us so well, yet u quote what other people tell u. we are not afraid to speak up. we just know when to keep our mouth shut like every other human being should, man or woman. we are smart enough to know when talking is only going to make matters worse. but we do when its RELEVANT not pointless. u should watch us closely. u might learn something

@ bluenubian

Oh my dear I've learned a lot from and about you here.  Just remember that not all things learned are good things.  Wink

@ david

you should know me a little better by now to know that I am making no allegations whatsover, neither am I generalizing.  Notice the words "if" it were true, and I also stated that the guy "generalized", which I try not to practise.

@Trini-girl,
Had it been that you are, even remotely, a basic researcher, you will know that you've committed the biggest error any scientist can make. Simpy put, you have developed an hypothesis from a very confounded observation without controlling for confounding variables.

Yes, you stated that your friend generalised that "almost all nigerian women are traditionally mutilated" (give us a data of the national average; and that figure or observation could be confounded by ethnicity, parental education, socioeconomic status etc). And in the concluding passage of your post, you yourself expressed doubt about the statement by saying "if this practice is true"; but you then went ahead and developed the hypothesis that 'probably' women in Nigeria "are so afraid to speak up" based on the "unsubstantiated" observation of 'generalised genital mutilation'.

And worst of all, you displayed gross disingenuity by now accusing men of "defending the tradition and using the word of God to cover their selfishness." You are now guilty of exactly the same thing you accused your friend of doing i.e generalization, in addition to your hare-brained hypothesis which is based on a faulty observation.
I know you like "speaking out" your mind, that is good!!; but it is much better if you "engage your mind" before "speaking out" your mind. I think you should be sacked where you are working, you wont make a good psychologist or counsellor or whatever it is you do. Grin

@trini_girl

I have been following ur posts in regards to Nigeria boys.Are you always trying to get attention from Nigeria dudes or what? I am begining to suspect you now because when a girl start saying negative stuffs about a boy there is something behind it.

If you're able, follow my posts a little closer.  You will then come to the realisation that Nigerian "boys" and "dudes" are a non-issue for me and I'm quite sure that your opinion is not vox populi. Away!

That you took the time to write such rubbish about something that was never a hypothesis but a mere speculation and an assumption based on same can only lead me to assume that you are trying to get my attention.  Had you been following my posts you would realize that my modus operandi is not to present anything as fact or firm opinion unless I have researched it myself.  Your feeble attempt at insult is duly noted, as well as your underlying desire to learn more of my profession and my persona.  Please take a number and stand at the back of the long line of my secret admirers on Nairaland.   Wink
