Interswitch ATM Fraud Alert!
« on: April 11, 2007, 05:48 PM »

Hello all,

A scam sms is being sent randomly about an upgrade of the Interswitch network.

The content of the text is as follows:

InterSwitch is upgrading their service, Please go & register UR ATM Cards NOW on www.interswitchnig.com
Only registered ATM cards will work on the ATM Machines

Please inform your customers to ignore such messages. The fraudsters are asking them to register their debit card and PIN. While we are aware, you already inform your cardholders to ALWAYS keep their card number and PIN sacrosanct, we are not ignorant of the fact that some may fall prey to this misleading message. Please endeavour to inform your customers of this threat and carry out PIN changes if neccessary.
Interswitch is investigating the scam at present and will take all possible measures to prosecute the fraudsters.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Rita Afolabi

Further clarification:
- The real Interswitch website is www.interswitchng.com.
- The fake Interswitch website is www.interswitchnig.com (a phishing site) but it's currently down.

thanx for the alert, but i think nobody whould even be willing to give his/her card out to anyone even to police not talking of pin number, i guess those who have already fall for that, need to be enlightened about the duties that customers must perform.
