tokunbo forget drug issue, pele is the very best just take a look @ his video clips and u will understand that he was simply unstoppable .a midfielder who scores over 1000 goals when there were potent strikers like garrincha just fontaine and so on with 3w/cups under his belt scores about 5 bycycle kick goals the guy just kept setting records no one can break and u say anyone else is better thats just pure sentimental judgement.when defenders came up to him they just did not have any answers. maradona could be stopped even by african defenders (italia '90)men bon o.PELE WAS AND IS THE BEST

- Which player had ever had the greatest impact on his country's World cup success? - Maradona - Which player most single-handedly taken his country to the World cup final? - Maradona - Which player is equally good on ground as in the air? - Maradona - Whih player ever had the "Hand Of God" in his goal? - Maradona - Which player (with all his weaknesses) is still worshipped like a god worldwide? - Maradona - Which player singularly took an obscure club to prominence? - Maradona - Which player plays in the defence, midfield, attack, sets goals up and scores classy goals? - Maradona. Guys! Give it to this idol of football. MARADONA. MARADONA. MARADONA (I can not be tired of him) Other players are very good, great but Maradona is the greatest. He is to football what Mohammed Ali is to boxing.

Pele is the best player of all times because during the sojourn of his career, Television technology was not very much in existence to show his skills at club levels. Pele’s style of play is perfect and devoid of any cheating unlike Maradona, what’s more, the image of Pele both on and off the field of play is worthy of emulation unlike Maradona. Pele display his skills of soccer atistry devoid of performance enhancement drugs unlike Maradona who uses performance enhancement drugs to play. The truth is while Pele is the best natural footballer that ever lived, Maradona is also the best ‘artificial’ footballer of this generations. Further truth is that, a lot of soccer fans all over the world in this generations actually saw Maradona play compare to Pele whose soccer atistry were only witnessed by few, no wonder there is the tendency of Maradona winning votes more than Pele in any opinion poll.
While above is my contributions, I however beg to differ with assumptions posited above by aumefa, my dissagreement stemed on the following:
Which player had ever had the greatest impact on his country's World cup success? - George Best did the same too for England, while did the same too. - Which player most single-handedly taken his country to the World cup final? - Pele also achieved this more than Maradona - Which player is equally good on ground as in the air? - Maradona, so also is Pele - Whih player ever had the "Hand Of God" in his goal? - Maradona of course, he is the king of cheats. That is not an achievement. - Which player (with all his weaknesses) is still worshipped like a god worldwide? - Maradona of course, by Italians only.

See the poll on this site too, from the lots of poll, Pele is still the best better than Maradrugger sorry, maradona. The Best Football Player in the World cannot have 1000 goals LESS than the Worst.

How can some of u disrespect Pele by mentioning Messi, Kaka n C.Ronaldo in the same sentence. These guys are young and quite frankly won't come close to Pele. Pele is the one n only in football, the fact that maradonna abused drugs during his career shows on him right now, makes me even have more respect for Pele because the man is what a complete athlete should look like in his old age not that blob Maradona.

Pele played in the times of my grandfather so I never knew him except by reputation. Maradona I know very well. So I will talk on what I know. Between Pele and Maradona, I think its Maradona.

well! if every contributor has to base his judgment only on what he witnessed then we will not go anywhere and rubbishing the art of keeping records. even at my age i never watched Pele played in his active days i have based my judgment on video recordings of his national and club games. the closest i saw of him was in the late 70/early 80s can't remember) when he came with Flumenese of Brasil to promote TAMA products in Nigeria. a match was organised between the team and Nigeria eleven my brother the 30 minutes or more he played you need to see the skills, but i nearly died that day at the national stadium, i have never seen that kind of crowd in my life. sentiments apart that guy is the real deal check out his stature decades after he left soccer. come to think of it do you know that presidents of countries receive Pele as if he is a head of state, how many presidents have accorded Maradona the same? no way they will not have anything to do with him because he is a bad ambassador to the world's most popular game
