yeah i was beaten as a child,but nothing out of the ordinary.i got beaten for climbing trees,dancing without clothesin the rain etc.i have two kids and i smack the older one at the back of his palm when he's naughty.the little one is under a yr.kids are so unruly in the uk.they don't smack kids here.but if you go to a predominantly black neighbourhood like thornthon heath,you'll see yoruba moms decking and pouunding their kids silly  Grin Grin
we are africans-nigerians for that matter.smacking-not  pounding-does not kill.my son also goes to face the walland stands in a corner for not less than 10mins.that helps too.
my husband gets unhappy when i smack the little boy,so i call him aside and met out my punishment.

Ever since I showed her I wasn't her punching bag she thinks twice before hitting.

I am not the passive type so she should expect the worst next time she decides to act stupid!

I only once got beating from my paternal grandmother on a small minor thingfessed about when i was young about 8 years old. My paternal grandfather pissed off at his wife yelling,"WHY MY PRECIOUS CHILD you beat up for? She is so precious DEAF CHILD i would never lift my hand on that DEAF CHILD"

He took me away from his wife (my paternal grandmother) to console me while rubbing my red swollen fresh marks on my leg (healed normally---no scar) that was beating out of thin young fresh stick from the tree or bush branch. I saw my grandfather's face weeping as if someone just died suddenly around his arm on me.

OHHH TOUCH GRANDPA i never seen other sensitive side of him---EMOTIONALLY!!!!

With my children, i do not believe in beating. I disciplined them the right way of their quality life they need to know.
================
@siena, i cannot believe hearing your disturbed story that touched my heart seeing you now what you had become A FINE GENTLEMAN with God-given talented and gifted---God bless you, Siena!!!!

Men, did I get my ass Whopped. Ahh, no be small thing, my mother was an expert, ahh. i can still feel the belt sraps on my back. My Mom had sort of an invisible belt, you ill be doing something bad and from nowhere you ill hear twash n your back. She never over did the beating sha, and When we were old enough to know wrong from right she stopped beating you. She ould not even scold you then.

eeyah, what is an African household without the infamous 'beatings' Grin, those were the days Tongue i used to get 'Di Won Bang', when i was much younger of course, but the beatings were for a reason, i mean, my parents did not just wake up and decide 'hmm, today we will flog ibk' Grin and many times i admit i DID deserve them, not all though. Lol, I even remember my parents' techniques and the things they used Grin, there was the ear twisting, the slapping of the mouth/face and hitting of the palm/booty, especially with the belt, wooden stick/spoon, mcdonalds balloon stick,the good ol' slipper or just with their hands Grin Grin Now they just moan and lecture me for hours upon hours Undecided Undecided, infact i think i prefer the beatings compared to the 'blah blah blah' Grin Grin
