Why are these fowls transported in this barbaric manner? Are there no cages in Nigeria? Animal rights activists in Nigeria should rise up for these poor chickens!

The way in which animals are treated in any culture is a direct reflection of how humans beings are treated by that society.    Destitutes who die in the streets of Nigeria are NOT promptly collected by the "cadaver men" as they are in Mumbai, India.  No sir, in Nigeria, human bodies are often simply ground to shreds by passing traffic, or just left to putrefy, swell and burst by the roadside, as indifferent pedestrians walk by, all totally inured to such horrific sights, by frequent exposure.

In such a surreal landscape of human misery and abject squalor, the spectacle of livestock being subjected to prolonged torture will never raise an eyebrow, any more than does the sight of accused witches or prick thieves being lynched and set alight by baying mobs.   "Welcome to Hell", is what that Lagos airport road billboard sign ought to read, to really prepare visitors to Nigeria for what they will inevitably witness.

No, I mean, you. You cannot be serious about this topic of "animal 'rights abuse'" in Nigeria. . . I mean, really. . .

The photo is hilarious though.

You wanna see how chickens are killed here? I puked when I saw the factory that supplies KFC. I've boycotting KFC since then.!!! Those chickens have a little freedom than their cousins here. Killing animals is barbaric enough but the way they are killed makes us savages. Animals are us and we are animals too. It's just false pride that makes us think we are better. Animals eat themselves they don't kill themselves like us. Who is civilized? They are free but we got unnatural needs!

All I know is that I like dogs, and I do not like people mistreat them. That being said, Nigeria has other things to worry about.

Mbeki, you have lost your mind!

Jakumo:

The way in which animals are treated in any culture is a direct reflection of how humans beings are treated by that society.

Nah!

The way animals are treated in any culture is a direct reflection of how many disney and disney-like films they have been subjected to in their early growth years. It has hardly any baring on how human's are treated.

Once you have seen little mister piggy talking, elephants crying, chicken's lecturing, bears having a family picnic, eagles being addressed as Mr/Mrs etc repeatedly is when you start equating them to humans and creating arguments for animal rights that is close or on par to human rights.

It is called "Nurtured Delusion". It mostly formulates over years of being fed a delusion.

You see signs of this disease when you see people writing/talking and calling an animal "he" or "she" instead of "it", without any neccesitation of knowing the sex of the animal.

Take a look at his face  properly, he reminds me of someone recovering from imbecility. If his father was gay, will he ever be on this earth? The plane he will take to come back to Africa to promote gay rights will crash and only him and his gay group will die in the crash. Is not normal; GAYS ARE UNDER DEMONIC INFLUENCE!

You cannot even bring yourself to treat your fellow man with respect and yet you somehow want everyone else to do it with chickens? Come on, get real.

Re: Animal Rights Abuse In Nigeria by Nobody: 10:12pm On Aug 15, 2010
I concur with becomrich3. Many people, including myself, have been saying this for a while but in African cultures life is cheap. We just do not value life, especially human life, beyond short sighted ethnic, familial, or personal relationships.
Re: Animal Rights Abuse In Nigeria by debosky(m): 10:18pm On Aug 15, 2010
Maps show that Nigerians don't care about animal rights. . . . .you honestly cannot make this up. cheesy
Re: Animal Rights Abuse In Nigeria by koruji(m): 10:21pm On Aug 15, 2010
This is indisputable truth. However, only when the humans begin to treat themselves with utmost dignity would animals in their midst stop suffering horrific acts. In this light the call to do something about animal abuse in Nigeria sounds absurd - you have to save the humans first. Do you see helments on the heads of those two?

Its kind of hilarious  grin to talk about animal rights in a nation where human rights doesn't even exist but the way a society treats its less fortunate is bad reflection on the its people.
But lol its still a great cause.
