Who hasn’t become an authority on MASSOB issues? Thanks to our ‘well-informed’ brothers, we now know what they stand for and how ‘ridiculous’ they are. I think we are almost running out of steam on this issue, unless of course they decide to introduce their own brand of bottled water, which I guess will enrage some of our ‘brothers’ here.
Can we therefore take a detailed look (a history lesson) at some of the other separatist organizations in Nigeria?
I will like someone to tell me why the Odua People's Congress (OPC) was set up, and what their long-term objectives are?
We will hopefully move onto the other groups later…

@Relax. Yes the Issue of Biafra may be discussed by the Okada drivers and market women, however they remain Nigerians-people refered to as 'the masses", Thats why we emphasize on a government for the people. WE are the people. also at missworld I should note here that at the first OAU summit , the African states decided to leave the borders as the were created by the colonialists so I guess I'm stuck with you. and finally at chxta, man ur knowledge intimidates me..you are good

Because of insecurity. The insecure at heart always seeks to undermine another in his attempt to get to the top since he is not sure that his abilities will get him there in the presence of a competitor. Did the remak offend anyone?... yes ....because its true.

Anyone that believes that his growth/progress/ascension depends on putting down another person. Its the first evidence of self-doubt and personal insecurity.

Chxta, glad to see your post about what truly is biafra. I'm from calabar and i have never subscribed to the idea fo biafra. basically this fight isnt for self actualisation of a people, but an economic grab. how convenient that biafra is the region with all theoil. why isnt it ust the key igbo states. (by the way, its news to me there are igbos in kogi and benue)
Either way nigeria has a better future together. cutting us to pieces will hurt us all, africa at large, in the long run

It offends my sensibilties. Apart from the ruling "elites" and their cohorts there has not been delibrate attempt to impede a people so that another group will grow at their expense. I am sorry you feel this way but they are only feelings and not substance. I believe a strong Nigeria is the hope of the blackman in Africa and the diaspora. If Nigeria improves that means 20% of black people are better off. 40years after greats like Kwame Nkrumah articulated a dream for one united Africa we have yet to achieve a semblance on national identity in Nigeria. Why do you think the west is scared of China? The bigger the merrier.

In addition to the open supporters, these cohorts must include those that benefit from such a system but refuse to openly (by whatever means) deny and denounce these practices.
Does it still offend?... Yes!!! Why?... Because there is a quota system in university admission so that Imo Imo State that has perennially had the highest number of university applicants can be slowed down for 'other' people. Because it has taken 20 years of politics to dualize (or even make motorable) the Onitsha Owerri - Aba road yet its still in a terrible condition. Compare the economic importance of this road to the Ibadan -Ife - Oshogbo Road. Imo airport built by village/school-children/peasants' contribution is in use today (even taken over by the Federal Government), while the ones built by the Federal government in unviable places are rotting away. When the federal ministry of works is blamed for not performing, the minister ( who hails from god know where) makes a publication in the national dailies listing the names of Igbo people that are staff of the federal ministry of works... as if they are the ones that refused to award the contracts When there is 'unrest' in Onitsha, 'agents' burn down Azikiwe's house but when it happens in Ibadan or Sagamu, well ....nothing.
Still wondering why the comments are true ( abi offensive)?

Is a stronger Nigeria the hope of the black race?....Oh yes. But that is where it ends, and where the dilemma begins. The Black races' hope(s) is (are) placed in a leaking pot, nay in the wrong place. In seeking the fulfillment of Kwame Nkrumah's noble dream/vision/desire we have offended the most basic of principles which is that, the union between humans or societies must not be by coercion. Even the divine asks the obvious.... Can two walk together except they be agreed?Without doubt, the union of the constituents making up Nigeria is un-natural, forced and ephemeral. You may consider reading through the article written by Reuben Abati recently and posted by Ono on the 'Oil pipelines Dynamited in the Niger Delta' thread ( http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-4159.32.html) Time and space would fail us if we were to catalogue the signs and symptoms that show that this 'contraption' is certainly not place for the precious black race to put its hopes. In summary, If university education be the highest pinnacle of learning and those that pass through it posses 'the highest level of learning', then woe betide the black race for it has put its hope of greatness on a system that has not deemed it fit to put one 'graduate' at its head for forty five years of its existence (despite having over 70 universities)

MASSOB (with its peaceful agenda) is a good bargaining tool for the Ibo's benefit, as well as Nigeria, why is there so much anti Ibo sentiment? Do you not feel that Ibo have been through a lot of unwarranted sufferings? If you're not the devil's first child, where is your compassion? That is why MASSOB exists. On the other hand Ibo need to win the hearts of the neighbours as we seem to intimate others for various reasons. No matter what is done to a race of people it is only a matter of time before a breakthrough is made ( it will only make Ibos stronger ) The entity called Nigeria will never really progress without harnessing what Ibos have to offer, and all the other races too. Ndigb just want fairness not an unfair advantage and untill that day I will never feel a true sense of belonging when I say I'm Nigerian.

@Topic
I think more importantly freedom is on the march in that country. I am not Igbo, but applaud their effort here. They(MASSOB) are making the whole country talk about them. And we all know that bad press still makes for a national discussion. I for one subscribe to the idea that Nigeria is on the verge of a revolution, and i think we have the fuel and this might just be the matches. Igbos i think have the liver to follow this through and can hold Nigeria's "democracy" Hostage.Especially if there is a Hausa or Yoruba man as President in 07!
Kokscity thinks OBJ is a National disgrace!Please someone should Holla @ me when the fight starts, so i can book my flight back home.
