Fellas,
Please i need your advice or help on this, My PS2 consule is refusing to play some certain categories of CD's especially if they are red faced but plays the ones with white face. The problems just started recently. What do you think is the problem and what do you advice? someone said i should change the lens etc.
Darkmanzero, gamine, hayprof, texazzpete, dblock and the rest of the gurus your advice is appreciated, thanks.

hmmi'd say it's a problem with your laser/lens. i'm no expert, but i'll go with that. the different color of discs usually depends on the media used, either it's a cd or a dvd, or the 'white face' could be an inferior optical medium.
you could work on changing your lens, but if you've got the big ps2, u could always work on installing a hard drive into the machine and ripping your games to it using a pc. that way, you get to play all you like without working your lens. . .
add @hotmail.com to my user name and you'll have my email address! mail me if u got further issues

In lay mans terms "your lens is now weak", its only natural with lenses since they actually have a life span. The solution is to replace the lens unit itself but that doesnt mean it wont happen again a couple of years down the line. Another thing is that the lens burns out quicker when you play inferior cds, dvds, etc (what you guys call pirated or ripped media). I'm saying this from 1st & 2nd hand experience, i feel your pain but like all things, something's got to give Cheers mate

nah its simple.
My ps2 does that, too.
white face = silverback (for those that confuse oyibo terms with alaba terms)
he's talking about pirated games. red faced are the cheapnasty ones written on cheapo CDR's while whitefaced are factory pressed.
ya lens is getting old, like ma peeps said. Go to alaba and replace it, or just stick to the white faced games. Or you can join tp and his hard disk brigade!

same thing happened to me and i had to change the lens.it would cost you about 8k at Alaba to get it replaced and it would be back to playing any sort of disc.
