I will not be part of it.  when Bughari was in power, I don't remember him allowing such, and Atiku could have done better for Nigerians.

well said my brethens,  Atiku is still in Maryland-USA for his knee examination and staying at his residence worth mere - $4 million, compared to what he have in his bosom.    Grin Grin Grin

We're more informed than before,  it's not worth loosing my life for their sellfish ambitions.  There is still room to join the president-elect in alleviating the plight of all Nigerians.

I WONT JOIN BECAUSE, I THINK THERE'S NO COUNTRY IN THIS WORLD THAT IS NOT CORRUPT, AND THERE'S NO COUNTRY WHERE ELECTIONS R NOT RIGGED. PROTESTING IS NOT GOING 2 MAKE NIGERIA MOVE 4WRD, RATHER IT IT WILL PUT IT IN CHAOS WHICH MIGHT LEAD TO WAR WHICH WE ALL KNOW WE don't WANT.

ATIKU AND BUHARI WHO R ASKING for the PROTEST WILL ONLY USE OUR INNOCENT CITIZENS ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS, WHICH MAY LEAD TO THE DEATH OF SUCH CITIZENS WHO WANT TO JOIN IN THE PROTEST. WHY WONT THEY ASK THEIR OWN FAMILY MEMBERS TO JOIN OR BETTER STILL, THEY COMING OUT THEMSELVES TO PROTEST.

DEAR NAIRALANDERS, WHAT HAS BEEN DONE HAS BEEN DONE !!! LETS ONLY JOIN HANDS TOGETHER TO SUPPORT THIS NEW GOVERNMENT AND MAKE NIGERIA BETTER PLACE TO LIVE.

Join the demonstration if you must, but be aware that you're only doing so in support of some desperate people's fight for unhindered access to the Presidential fleet of planes, Aso rock, our foreign reserves and their wives junting about as first ladies (Titi particularly) disturbing our peace. Not to talk of their kids (again Atiku) becoming royalties - the prince Harry and William of Nigeria.

That the elections where flawed is not news, but it's time to move forward and plan to improve on future elections.

After all factors considered, Yar'Adua remains the best option of all the three leading candidates, whatever his shortcomings may be.

IT IS NOT BECOMING WHAT U WANTED TO BECOME THAT MATTERS. BUT WHAT U WILL BECOME AFTER BECOMING WHAT U WANTED TO BECOME.
BUHARI, 1985 TO 1986, TYRANT HEAD OF STATE
ATIKU, 1999 TO 2008, GREEDY  VICE PRESIDENT
WE don't WANT THEM AGAIN THEY SHOULD GO REST IN PEACE WITH THEIR LOOT. AND THANK U ALL NAIRALANDERS 4 BEIGN SO WISE.

Well Nigerians have to learn a lesson to call bad bad no matter who did it. Let us take our mind bad to 1999 when Nzeribe produced 15 charges against OBJ whereby none of them he could account for. What happened? Democracy is new so we should condone evil. Is democracy new now? Atiku is he not part that robbued democracy by rigging OBJ in that he will be president in 2003? Buhari went to court until he was threathened. When Chris Uba abducted Ngige of Anambra state what happend? Has abduction stopped in Nigeria?

My fellow Nairaland we have to stand and vote against evil not minding who did.

Believe me if nothing happens to this blood day light ligging , election will continue this way, the rulling and stronger party will always use thugs to rig election and nothing court will do to such am immediate need. Who knows how 2011 will be?

Am not calling riot nor anything but we must say that what is bad not matter how it is done.

Court is showing little seriousness because big eggs have been affected.

Am not concerned about Buhari or Atiku but Nigeria's future.

atiku and buhari have had their own turn of looting and rigging let others enjoy their turn. but if they must protest let them start with their families. meanwhile i want to thank u all that have contributed so far it shows nigerians are not foolish as they thinks.

There is a saying that if u throw a stone upward it must fall back to you. In 2003 Atiku rigged OBJ in and now He has been rigged out. For all I care this is the law of KARMA. AND for Bugarri he should go to the mosque to become an imam rather than turn this counrty into an Islamic nation of his dreams.

For anyone that wants to protest abeg come collect cutlass for my house. As for me I will join to fight anybody who carryout any protest because among the 3 Yaradua is the best

in a normal society, an anti government protest does not need the approval of the government but what is this protest all about? and who are behind this protest and whose interest are they protecting?
in the minds of every normal nigerian, buhari is not a good name. to many, it means the begining of the bad side of nigeria.
he lost to babangida as a military man, lost to obj as a civilian and now lost to yar adua again. he shld know that even me will win him in a normal election in nigeria talkless of pdp using their power of incumbency.
atiku on his own confessed to stealling money belonging to the masses and turn arround to convience people to vote for him as a president.
well, if he can steal that much as a vp, he can do anything as a president.
despite who brought him, how he come and his party, many nigerians including me knows that yar adua is a better devil.
protest my foot.
they shld go and tell that to the northerners. no normal ibo man can join such protest with their own children abroad and calling for a mass rally.
political history of nigeria will definitely remember the two as deciepts and disappointments.
this election shld serve as a warning to both fools and they shld learn how to stay away from elections

Expect slight changes in govt personnel —Yar'Adua * AC to Yar'Adua: ‘You don't have Nigerians' mandate’

By Ben Agande with agency reports
Posted to the Web: Friday, May 04, 2007

ABUJA — PRESIDENT-ELECT, Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua, says only “slight changes” in personnel should be expected in government post-May 29, 2007. He said at a meeting of the Honorary International Investors Council (HIIC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, that the government he planned to run would not derail from the policies and programmes of the out-going Obasanjo administration.

The honorary council is being co-ordinated by former British minister, Lynda Baronness Chalker, who on the occasion, cautioned the international media against blowing out of proportion the alleged fraud in the last elections in the country.
However, the opposition Action Congress (AC), reacting yesterday to Alhaji Yar’Adua’s statement that he won the presidential election fair and square, described it (Yar’Adua statement) as “an affront, a provocation and an insult on Nigerians.”

Alhaji Yar’Adua at the Honorary International Investors Council (HIIC) meeting said: “The policies, focus and direction of government will continue with the same determination,” noting that members of the council should be rest assured that he would build from where Obasanjo would stop. The president-elect said he believed the establishment of the honorary council was in good faith and in the interest of the speedy development of the country.

Earlier, Chalker had congratulated the president-elect and commended the steps he has so far taken to extend a hand of friendship to members of the opposition.

Dead people voted against me in Britain—Chalker
She said elections had never been perfect in any part of the world, including Europe and the US, noting that she was also a victim of electoral malpractice in Britain when “dead people” voted against her in one of the elections she contested.

Baroness Chalker said some of the allegations trailing the last elections were also obtainable in the advanced countries of Europe and America. Her words: “Let us get rid of the superficial comments and let us help the government of Nigeria, the in-coming government to put right those things which they know are not perfect, which they want to reverse and accept sensible, constructive advice.

“We are impressed with your determination to continue with the excellent work which President Obasanjo has been doing. We welcome you and hope that you will bring experts and technocrats to join real politicians to continue the reform work of Nigeria, ” she said.

Also speaking, President Obasanjo said Nigeria had benefitted from the “experience, contact and knowledge” of the members of the Honorary International Investors Council (HIIC), just as his administration has been open to the council for critique and advice.

Inaugurated on July 6, 2005 in London, the HIIC comprises  reputable Nigerian and foreign investors and meets twice yearly within and outside Nigeria.

You don't have Nigerian' mandate, AC tells Yar’Adua
Meanwhile, the Action Congress (AC), yesterday, described as an affront, a provocation and an insult on Nigerians, the claim by Governor Yar’Adua that he has the mandate of Nigerians to take over the Presidency.

The AC in a statement in Abuja said: “The PDP Presidential candidate does not have ‘the mandate of Nigerians’ as no legitimate and credible claim of mandate can be made out of the barefaced cheating and fraud which Maurice Iwu calls an ‘election’ but which the whole world has dismissed as a fiasco, a charade, and the fact of being the worst election ever in Nigeria (some say in Africa).

“The claim of a mandate based on the flawed election is the worst form of insult that anyone can inflict on Nigerians. Nigerians have never expected a ‘perfect election’ as canvassed by the abject apology of the PDP candidate, but the conduct of INEC in the last elections sets Nigeria back by at least 48 years in her electoral history and put the nation on a trajectory of one party, authoritarian rule and possibly the worst form of dictatorship.”

The Action Congress warns that if this fraud and charade were allowed to stand, the PDP would become emboldened to abolish future elections, as there would be no need for any

Yar'Adua was on a winner from the start. He's the most credible of all the candidates. He's got the support of the all powerful rulling party.  He's got the full support of the military and powers that be in Nigeria. He did more productive campaign than all the opposition put together. And finally, I believe he's tenure as President will withness the most rapid development of our nation.

May he go with God's speed.

I am rolling with laughter. y should anyone protest to protect these 2 politicians selfish interests? If indeed Nigerians believed in them, they would not need to call for the protest. afterall there have been unsolicited protests in a few states after the governorship elections.
