oh ok. At least i'm not the only one who comes here these days and wonders where the old nairaland disappeared to. You search for topics of interest and all you get are sexual topics, silly questions like "looking for a white whore" or children arguing over how they look. Any thread that appears to make a little sense is ruined by children choosing to use the same as grounds to show off their bad parental training or ends up in the almighty admins recycle bin (is anything actually recycled there?).

and as for u being a tease? YES YES YES! Dont ask me why i think so.  Wink

May God help Nairaland.

ive gotten banned a couple of times and i think they were all unfairly. i believe a forum should allow you speak your mind without fear of banning.and in thrashing out issues people tend to lock horns and get very heated(nothing wrong in that), its part of the fun. it shouldnt incur you a ban.  besides we can't all agree with seuns point of view all the time.  ( that would be absurd). the thing is when the people who make it interesting are all sent away  it'll become another hangout for fourteen year olds (God they kill me their naive posts!).

Oh please save that for someone else.

When people get ban for useless reason.
Example you are banned for house cleaning can you believe that and you want me to be nice, hell no.

This are reason i can't stand Nairaland you people are scare of speaking your mind just because your don't want to get ban by ALMIGHTY SEUN, too bad i wasn't brought up that way.

my dear calm down. Your attitude is one of the reasons Nairaland has become a turn off. When i signed up in 2005, it was rare to find people go personal. Why? Because majority of the members then were older and more mature individuals. Intellectually stimulating topics that had you scrambling for your dictionary and google were common place. Now all we have are toddlers who derive pleasure in ruining threads and learning to curse their mothers in the name of rap!
With the "i am the owner of the land" attitude of the admin, majority dropped out. I have countless who sent emails and messages to say why they were no longer going to be a part of Nairaland and IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE TIME AND TIME AGAIN! THE ADMIN!

When u are banned "for not being afraid of being banned" then it is cause for alarm!

@ Sisi_dutty
its possible to get your point across without all the name calling. i choose not to talk like that. its understandable that you are mad but no need to hit below the belt. (not that seun would consider dropping out of school hitting below the belt!  Grin) look what he started and how far he's come!

@davidylan
i feel you jare. it seems the older guys just leave after a couple of bannings since they actually have a life and other things to do. it alarms me to find out that 14 year olds and 15 year olds have access. they froth at the mouth and cuss and swear. its to bad taste. kills the fun for me.

@ spoilt
its incredibly sad. Many of the old time naija bloggers actually used to be members of nairaland in the early days. All of them have disappeared today. The surprising thing is you rarely see the kids get banned! The problem is you can't reverse the trend, most people once banned don't return.
Take a good look at the miss nairaland thread for example, within a few hrs it had degenerated into a free for all fight!

@ ika6, ok i take that as a yes.
Dont worry, one day you will know why i say so.  Wink Good to create some suspense once in a while eh.

Gone are those days when challenging topics were the norm on the board. Today, rap, sex, and other less challenging topics fill the board. Honestly, its sad to see the caliber of people on this board who, presumably are Nigerians, are so inclined to embrace rap and rap about it on the board. Seun, have you noticed the difference too?

Seun,
It is quite sad that you could ban a guy like David from Nairaland he gives quite incisive contributions on the thread that everybody goes to research now the only thing that thrive in Nairaland is the romance section

How I wish you could reinstate those guys that you sent out. probably their views don't match yours. Be more tolerant man!! If you are the president of Naija only God knows How many Nigerians would be in exile and prison first person Gani Fawehinmi

Davidylan and all other seniors,

It's indeed really sad that almost al the old, interesting members either have left or have been banned by our dear admin. Left are the intellectually challenged and immature (with a few exceptions of course). What bugs me most though is that, through the high rotation of members, there's almost no sense of community left. In the beginning we almost all 'socialised' here on the board, even outside of our pet subjects.
Because of that, many conversations have become free for all where one (and I have become guilty of that too) doesn't even bother to construct a proper argument. I just loved to disagree with many of the old members, it was civil and we respected each others differences. Nowadays too many people have an axe to grind and/or are too dull witted to even talk to.

This is sad and will do more harm than good to Nairaland.

I have been banned 2 times (under 15mins on each occassion) for responding to insults in kind and I doubt if those that started the insults were even banned themselves.

On each occassion I had hoped for the ban to be permanent but no.

It all depends on why people visit this forum as I never visit sections other than politics, webmasters, programming, Technology market.

I have made it clear to Seun using email that he needs to change his style and must be ready to accomodate views and opinions that he may neither understand nor like.

I agree completely that this forum is losing its best posters and the reasons are not farfetched.

NB: But this thread should not be on the politics section as it has nothing to do with politics abi na for maximum exposure?

@ Nferyn
You are as usual straight on point. The sense of community that used to exist on certain sections is long gone. On politics and religion threads in the old days you could almost count on a certain set of people to always be there to agree and disagree with, today just about anybody pops up and says whatever they like. The result; boring threads left hanging.

It will be amazing to see if Nairaland can survive beyond this year besides those who swarm the boards either looking for employment opportunities or people to spam.

You guys're definitely saying the obvious. There has been a drastic drop in the quality of communal discourse that once characterised Nairaland.  Would u blame him or anyone else at that?
Your profile says u're just 'bout 4mths old on this forum (no disrespect intended trust me) so u're not likely to fully appreciate the gross disparity between what was n'what presently obtains in the forum.I am barely a year old myself and find the trend pretty disturbing.I can only imagine how those who've been around much longer would feel. O boy. I have begged and begged and pleaded and pleaded with Akolawole to come back to the forum, but he always refuses.

He says that the forum has been turned into something else. He says he misses the days of Jackal and co.

I wonder what the problem really is.

He even created a thread in offtopic in which he was craving for the old days.
