The first thing to do is to first get pregnant for the guy so that his family will know that you are fertile. This is the practice in Nigeria today.

Typical guy 'sillyness', someone wants to plan for wedding, e say make e get pregnant, so she will be planning for baby, ko.

Anyway @eby4kb

  • Get a notebook and pen.
    Determine your budget.
Start attending more weddings to get ideas and feel of what you want.
Get numbers of your friend, sisters friends or anyone who recently got married to be by you, they are usually excited to help and will be good pointers.
Get a list of 3-4 caterers and get quotations (if possible attend functions where they are catering to sample their food)
Start scouting for venue and book asap.
Music will it be live band or DJ, again get list and sample.
Decide if you are sowing your gown, if buying from abroad start sourcing and order asap.
Find a good haristylist practice to find style that suits your face e.g top, flat, afro u get my drift.
Get a good makeup artist if not practice to find colour shade that suits you and practice or get a groovy friend who is fashionable and is a true friend you don't want anyone making you up as a clown (I am serious o) I have seen some brides and believe me,
Choose the colour theme for the day.
Get a list of 3-4  decorators and try to go to functions they decorating to see their work.
Decide who your best lady will be and get them to do the runnings with you.
Start looking at cake designs, e.t.c

Others
Eat healthily (fruits, veg e.t.c)
Drink plenty of water it will help your skin.
Pray

My wedding is coming up in september and even though we don't want such a big wedding, N500,000 is definitely no where near our budget. We are having just the traditional but then everyday it just keeps going up. having a wedding in naija now is worth planning long and hard so u get the best, it's something you do once in a lifetime and you want good memories.
Get a wedding planner but those can be expensive, why don't u get your closest family members involved? I know ladies have a thing for planning weddings. My fiancee is in charge of everything basically with my mom, not because I don't want to be involved but because they think I don't know a thing about planning weddings, oh well, what can a brother say Grin.
Goodluck and Congrats

If you don't have time to do all the running around (can be VERY stressful), it will be better for you to get a wedding planner.

Anyway im into event decoration so you can contact me for that ( d_ebonie@yahoo.com )

ITS GUD to knw that u are getting married soon,I will advise u to do the first thing first, and that is choosing a specific date in December ,which two of you must agree upon including the two families.By the time the date is specific, then planning starts and u will knw where to starts from and what to do.and try to be close to somone who is newly married to put u through,to help u avoid the mistakes they made.
and most importantly don't forget to also get prepare spiritually, fast and pray to make everthing work out well.it is well!

When i mean 500,000 naira,  its just the fee to pay the weddings planner thats not the money to setup the wedding.

@ smile4kenn
i think this price is really on the high side, just because i need information doesnt mean myself and my hussy shld dole out half a million to a single soul, bearing in mind that i still have to pay other vendors ( caterers, drinks, facial , makeup, cameramen, videography, rentals, etc).

@ sundaisy
my candid advice
1. do a budget on your expenses
2. buy wedding planner magazine ( its a monthly magazine)
3. get ideas by attending pples wedding
4. get your friends involved ( two good heads are better than one)
5. 2 things that must be handy( biro and a note pad) ideas springs up every seconds
6. inspirations comes from within, dare to be different
7. surf the net
8.

All you need now is to start saving your money.

Get a must do list, state your budget, list all you need. e.g the basics are:

your ring
gown and suits
your accessories, i.e shoe, ear-ring etc
food/caterer
decoration
cake
drinks
hall
video
music

Get the people that will help you do these and get the prices.

Start active preparation 3months to the wedding, start buying or sewing your gown, and buying d accessories.  a month to the time, you start giving the contractors their money, i.e the catere, the video man etc.

mine is next week, l never engaged any weddn planner, l planned it by myself and sisters, it lessening the cost and l am having no stress at all.

Good luck and congratulation.

1. make a freaking list
2. put your cousins and sisters to good use
3. take that wedding planners number and throw it out the window
4. trust me, u can do it yourself, all u need to do is be organized, and know exactly what u want.
