@ wanajo, i know your a big nigerian-german chemicals fan, u said it would be a good buy after the pull back. what does that mean? ?? from my calcs, its projected eps is 1.2 by year end so it should hit at least 20 naira, but its price is already above 16, so do u think theres any point in still jumping in. I invest for the long term so our situation may be different. Two weeks ago Nigerian German was as low as 12.00. I bought then. Now it is 17.00. I see it getting to 25.00 next year. Some are looking at 28.00. It will oscillate between 15.00 and 18.00 for a while. So make your choice.

@ easimoni, pls dont forget wapic? i think thats the number 1 insurance coy. right now. in its last result, it got an eps of 69k, although i dont know anything about how many shares they yet have to list from their p.o, but their projections for its next year result is looking good even though its just a ten month year. forcasted eps of about 1naira.

I know Wanaj0 loves WAPIC but I've been doing some research. They will end up with a total of 4.23B shares (so says the MD, I googled them). If they double last yr's performance, they come up with N1400M which is EPS = 33k. for a stock already ~N7? Maybe the do more than 100% incr in PAT, but I found a few gems in the course of my research; Niger Ins, Sovereign trust, Lasaco and Prestige. Also found a fewquestion marks; UNIC, N.E.M., Royal Exchange. I need to gather liver to sell my WEMA and hit the insurance sector. The PEGs are ridiculous!

PLS, PLS, PLS go and do fixed deposit. The market is not for a month's investment. It's not a money doubling avenue. with the fees alone, you'll most likely lose money in a 30 day time-frame.

I don't even own a single WAPIC. Well just do your research well or else you will be left dry by the insuarnce companies. Are you aware that NEM did a rights issue? Are you aware that on top of that they merged/acquired Vigilante insurance. Hope you've factored that in. Are you aware that UNIC is 'selling' the non life bit of their business henc eyou need to discount the income from that going forward? Well as a starting point you need to get FULL audited account of those companies before you put your moeny there if you are not a gambler like most people.

Wanaj0, I did say I was going to avoid UNIC and N.E.M because I felt the picture I developed (in just a couple of days, mind u) was incomplete. The "question marks" are the ones I plan to avoid. What do you think of the ones I called "gems"? Niger Ins, Sovereign trust, Lasaco and Prestige? I think I have the full story on oustanding shares (including 06 offers) but there may be other news which I may not be privy to from across the pond.

Until I see the FULL audited financial statement of the insurance companies I will place an hold on them. Do you know the companies that they acquire and what the scheme of merger looks like? No gambling for me.

easimoni Dont fall in love with any stock. WEMA is going nowhere. You would have made more if you have divested earlier and have put the money on a more vibrant stock.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am interested in purchasing the Japaul IPO. However, since it might take some time to get the share certificates, I am also thinking of getting about 20000 Japaul shares from the secondary market. Will it be advisable to do that now, or wait till the technical suspension has been lifted?

@ Easimoni
Crusader is still available. Which broker do you use? Plus if you sell out and Wema releases the result, u might not like it, esp with all indications of the result
You can divest a bit but not sell all. Wema is coming up with a po soon so the result will come out sooner than later.

@ easimoni, i think im in the same position as you cos i got a lot riding on wema!! what has kept me going is this rumor of bonus and public offer. i think i might divest some as well and go for something else. right now, im thinking c&i, or mbenefits cos its half year is expected soon.

Have a look at this this page of their website : http://www.japaulplc.com/news.htmlAlso there seems to be consensus that the eps of the company is currenly around 26k for the year ended dec 2006. That should gives a fair price of about 5.2 , assuming a pe of 20 which is modest compared to the nse presently. the po is said to be going at 3.95, current price is 6.02, thats also a good discount (35%). Add that to potential for growth, favourable govt policies and there is a decent case for japaul. its also not a bank/insurance firm so u probably will get your certs soon enough. I am sure the prospectus will be out shortly and we will get mo info. hope this helps

@ Stacks - Usually, only existing investors who already have the certs are entitled to rights issues. You will only be entitled to rights issues on the existing 5k units for which you should already have the certs or for its reflection in your CSCS account, if you have a broker.

Any takers on the this GTB/GDR issue?
With the imminent re-denomination of the Naira @ N1.25 to $1. Will this not preempt the conversion to ordinary stock, owing to it being a more financially attractive option?
If yes, then would it not make sense to dispose of the stock before such takes place?
