So many nigerian guys here try so hard to be something they are not. Especially when they try to become blood or crip, knowing damn well they wouldn't do that in nigeria. i feel a guy can show his toughness in other was rather than joining a gang. its not cute. some ladies may like tough guys, but it wouldnt be cute when their bad-ass byfriend gets shot or stabbed

I didn't come to America to aquire their negativity, i came to America to be who i've always wanted to be. So, don't generalize us or else you will be committing fallacy of composition

I remember talking with a pakistani guy one day... he ask me if i was a ghanian, i said No. I told him that i was born and bred in Nigeria he was surprised. He now told me hoe he differentiates btw Ghanian and Nigerians .... He said "Nigerians (in America) are always Lousy and gangster wanna bes" While Ghanian Guys are cool Headed and Calm. The problem is that while in nigeria so many Nigerians have unrealistic expectations of the way AMERICA was and are always shocked at the system (US) and because they lack thinking skills they respond to the Us system by joining Gangs.

The beauty of this forum is that you're confronted with divers opinion on every subject, besides, thats the characteristics of most major opinion pages.
Now on that subject, I think the first presenter did commit an error by saying "most" nigerians. There are a few who think Gansterism is a way to show that they have actually arrived America.Where I live here, its Liberians who do that, not a few nigerians. We have doctors and engineers here at age 28.Once again, depends on your motivation before you came in here.Like on campuses in Nigeria we had secret cults, right? so a kid who was in cultism who have the tendercy of doing thesame here by joining a gang.We just pray they grow up before they got shot.again age and location is a factor.Personally I think its just senseless for a kid to leave Nigeria come here think of joining a gang..I mean..c'mon...but you know, you never know.

Wow, I have a friend in Naija....he is so carried away by what he sees in Ameriaca's Gangsta/Rap videos. He role models are Game and 50 cent. All he cares 'bout is leaving Naija to be 50 Cents' Disciple. But funny enough this guy is not a pinch rugged. I am cool, but more of the rugged type than him...I think its a FAD. And on Cultism/Gangsta in Naija...these guys are not mentally and physically rugged, its just a feeling in their mind . You need to see a Cultist cry in my school last year when a Campus Marshall shot him in the leg during a battle we taught he was tough oh my! Well, they all have to know that 50 Cent in US is Pasuma Wonder in Naija. So Any gangsta in US should be treated like an Agbero..infact they are. Cos Gangstas leave by drugs, robbing...thug life to be precise. And you know what???Thuglife means OMO ITA. And Omo Ita dnt havea home nor do they have a future Being mentally and physically rugged is diff from being a Gangsta. Like Socrates would say Courage is different from Thoughtless Rashness Soyinka's days.........is different from today's...... No be me talk dis one. Naijaguru don talk...

I wonder why the emphasis is on Nigerian Guys. I asked a question and everybody is waving it. You said Nigerian guys are trying to be gangster, true, but not all are like that. Most of my friends here are all cool headed and all they are concerned about is how to make money which is pretty good. My question again is why are Nigerians ladies getting to America and becoming something else, go to the club and see how spoilt they are but the ladies would never say anything to that, only the guys are in trouble.

Trying to address your question 2nde. I haven't seen that many Nigerian ladies as you mentioned going to clubs and wasting their time. Like most Nigerians abroad, they try to manage their resources, good to school specializing mostly in medical fields in order to help their relatives back home.

I have been to clubs and parties and i see them all, i know what i am talking about. There are bunch of guys out there who go to school also, it may not be medical field(especially nursing) cos they reason far beyond working, working and working

SO many nigerian guys abroad.. turn into wannabe gangastas because they tryna fit in.
I don't blame most of them tho.. because our girls are actually in love with thugs. They go about following african american dudes. Shuu, our guys prolly feel, another way for them to get us back is by acting as wannabe's.
Most of them think, when they say "fxck, nigga, fxck, ma nigga".. that they all that. Sh!t makes me laugh my ass off. There are lotsa them in my school. See them throwing them pants on the floor, and tying du-rag up in they head. Daing it's funny.. but hey, i ain't hating.

I can't stand guys like that. but if you complain, you get called "hater". beats me why anyone would want to be a thug. It's not like anything good comes out of it. one of my friends (he's not Nigerian though) actually thinks it's a cool thing his cousin owns a gun. he's in some gang too. 90% of what he says are just plain swear words! and yes, not all nigerian guys are like that.
