Sony Playstation Portable (PSP): a must-have
« on: June 21, 2005, 03:44 PM »

I recently held the PSP in my hands for first time and I must say it'a a very impressive machine a must have whether you like it or not. thats because the UMD is going to be very popular from all the signs.

Compared to the Sony Playstation 2, how is it better, worse, or just about the same in gameplay quality?

it's not as powerful as the PS2 but for it's powerful enough for a handheld. i'll say it's in between a PS1 and a PS2. at the moment, there aren't enough quality titles on it - it's just a cool looking piece of hardware. Nintendo's DS in front in terms of sales. seems Nintendo have the hand-held market on lock down.

It's a good piece of hardware, however there is one thing stopping me from buying it...
There's almost no good games available on it  Cry

the extremely high launch price of the playstation 3 will turn people off straight away, they reckon it could be as much as $1200 USD when released  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

PSP is a cool item.  It comes in very handy on long flights and when you have spare time to waste.  The integrated web browser that's a part of the latest update to it is great also.

90k for a psp is pure theft. i bought mine 30k some months back, and i heard its standard at 35K.
i've long since downgraded to firmware 1.5, installed a SNES and megadrive emulator, play pirated games from the memory stick (currently playing winning eleven 9!!!). I've got quake 1 & 2 running on it.
i really recommend burnout: legends for anyone out there, because its a stunning game.
someone asked me 2 swap it all for an xbox 360. still trying 2 decide if thats a good deal. what d'ya think?

regarding memory, you can get a 1GB memory stick, the system is awesome. you can use it for way more things than just play games, go online, play video, music, pictures, stream music, and also you have many homebrews that u can run on psp depending on the version you're running. though there is now support for homebrews on 2.6, i have tried some of the home brews on 2.6 works great as for me i am still waiting for the possibility of running ROMs on 2.6. if you are planning on getting one, its a really cool device,

i use it as a remote controller for some home my electronic device, (computer, tv). the functionality is very extensive if you really want to make use of as many features as you like

well 4 me i don't think its a must have because it also has its own share faults. i think a ds would be better maintained in naija. because its cheaper and well last longer than d psp due to da simple nature of d game. i've had a ds 4 some time now,and i think its worth d money. if given a second chance i'll still go 4 a ds. i think d psp would only suit people who have placed games as their highest priority because da mini discs are very expensive. and da console is worth like$250
