hey guys,
got into this argument with some folks in my neighbourhood about castling & stalemates or draws in chess-please can u help me resolve this;
can u castle when an opposing piece is threatening the area u're castling 2 & when u castle, how many spaces does the king move?
if your opponents has got only his king left on the board, what is the maximmum "check-mate" count before the game is declared as a draw.

About the castling, u can't move if an opposing piece is threatening d path of d castling. Also the king moves 2 steps if castling kingside while d rook moves 2 as well and 3 steps when castling queenside Also the concept on no. of steps when having only d king on the board has faded
For chess programs, try chessmaster and fritz( fritz is a bit advanced )

I used to be an ardent chess player in the 80s. I was then the Charge d'affairs, Alekhine's Chess Club, Abeokuta. Although i have not played active chess in the last one decade, but i still love the game. So when are we starting the nairaland chess championship?
