Beware of the Festac Town office, I'm aware of a few people who got new passports there and had ' problems' while travelling. It seems some of the passports issued from that office are not genuine. |

ahhaha@ijebuman..i know ehh..am planning on getting a 9erian passport because am tired of paying 4 visa and wasting money 4 all those vaccines and people down dere told me i can get it in a day..am like okay but 10xs..i rather get 2 9erian embassy here and i know 4 sho it is issued in Canada..lol...da fact that I will be using 9erian passport is whala on its own and den u wan make i issue it in 9eria..NAHHHH...

cushman, any immigration office in a town close to you should be able to issue you a passport. Try the Yola immigration office at the federal secretariat if u live in maiduguri, i have been there once to renew my guardian's passport.

Getting a Nigerian passport is damn easy. Get to the passport office with a passport photo, they will give you a form after that they will take your photoshot (which will appear on your pali). Then you are home. It cost just 10k Naira. Beware of the Festac Town office, I'm aware of a few people who got new passports there and had 'problems' while travelling. It seems some of the passports issued from that office are not genuine. I wonder why they have not linked all their stations to a central server where people can get details and info about a passport number. |

Better you go yourself to the passport office. Take your relevant documents. They take your passport picture there.
Be careful!
Dont trust any passport agent. So many cases of non-genuine documents being issued by so called passport agents.
They charge you 10x the correct rate and then supply useless fake passport. 40,000 fake passports were seized last month in Lagos.
Has anyone else had that experience of being issued with non-genuine travel documents then travelling abroad and on arrival been refused entry into a country because of fake passport?
You can spend your life saving on a ticket and valid visa for travel and then be turned back when you arrive at your destination.
The new biometric scanners at airports in many countries can read the genuine stamp on your passport.
Security around the world is getting tough since 9/11. If you travel on a fake passport the CIA think you must be a terrorist and you will be interogated in USA, held in detention.

I got mine in the festac office, however I know somebody there so it did not waste much time. I felt sorry for the people waiting in line when I arrived. However I totally condem such act because its against humanity. A lot of things needs to be changed in nigeria. It is high time people stopped staying line for the sake of getting an international passport.
Why can't they set up a website where people can apply, then send them an e-mail to visit the passport office on a certain day, so that the office will know they are gona deal with "X" number of people per day. That is how decency starts in a developing country.
I can't wait to go home and change things........

Just Go to the immigrations office closest to u, in most major cities u will find them located at the federal secetariate building. Take along , a copy of your birth certificate and your local Government ID letter. It cost just 5 thousand naira, but if u are in a rush and need it within a day or two, then be ready to part with 10 thousand naira to have an immigrations officer fast track it for you. So you can get Your Digital passport taken on time and then collect it on time as well. But if not in a rush, i suggest you just take you time pay the 5thousand and then wait till the day u are lucky enough to get your passport taken...and You are done. |

No not that long, just Go there like every other day and pester them, I think in a week or even less you will get you Digital Pics taken, thats the hardest part, ones that is done you are home free, You can pick it in 2 or 3 days.. |

Its not the money @layi, some People have The time to consider 5k as a bit too much to just give away, when you have the time and energy to pester the folks @ the passport office. So stop acting like 10k is not a big deal Ok. |

Sorry I no know say some people never get them ID but we've gotten ours in LAGOS O. I also didnt know that pestering now works at the passport office. Maybe I woke up in the wrong Nigeria today.  |
