Lol @ darkie

Ok, i managed to get the demo version of Quake III. Played it ayt it's cool, but i still prefer u.t by far. Graphics wise, u.t takes it. Hell, in most categories, u.t takes it. One thing i most def dislike is the way the characters move, it's almost like 'you' are the slowcoach, while the camera spins either too fast to lock target on an opponent. Most times, stages i won were mostly on anticipating that enemy's next move and a good eye for the target and generally experience from u.t . Graphics at times can make u mistake an object for a character especially when they are far away.  I don't know, maybe it's just me and my getting to play the game for the first time. Have ta get used to it Cheesy

Character i love killin' most : Grunt (with that his pot belly, lol)

@gbade

I'm glad you are playing Q3 demo!

I advice you to stick at it. Let me tell you why- it makes you feel like u are slow *precisely because* UT is SLOW!!!!

so YOU ARE SLOW!

The reason why i have been bragging about killing you with so much confidence is because I know for a fact that I will, simply because i went through a long gruelling learning process with Q3 that resulted in me developing the skills neccesary to face the bots equally on nightmare difficulty. I have no problems against bots on any map on hardcore, and I have finished the game once on nightmare. Please practice on the dredwerkz, and daemia/hossman on tier 2. Also aim to beat ranger consistently on hardcore. Once u get to that level, your speed will be such that you will realise *why* i can be such a cocky arrogant arse-hole about winning on UT

to be honest, I'm looking forward to our game just to initiate you into the REAL world of FPS Cheesy

I don't take pleasure in just sitting down and killing someone over and over. But if you get good enough to beat ranger on hardcore in q3, you have succesfully initiated yourself! And ill need to start taking the competition seriously,  Shocked Shocked Shocked

finally, as per graphics, I think your P may be the issue. UT looks better on low end PCs, while Q3 is optimized for fast graphics accelerators. Design and art- wise, UT is clearly superior, but technically Q3 has far superior graphics.

Google 'thresh' and 'quake bible' online to get a primer on some of the advanced techniques of quake.

Remember- quake is purity

Yep, been bumping that shit and gettin' used to it. On the real though, it's actually fun anticipating what a bot would do next. Just fragging 'em suckas gives me joy watching their limbs fly apart Cheesy. I've come to the conclusion that Q3 is a game primarily  designed for geeks to exhibit suppressed dark/violent emotions, what with all the commands and shit on the screen.

Sadly , the demo's got only 4 stages. I'ma have to make do with that.

On a different note, i suggest all buyers from otigba test the cds they want to buy before leaving the area. na so i buy a copy of call of duty 2 only to take it home and see it was WWF Raw is War

reminds me of my hl2 odessey:

last year, i met a dude in PC village that sells specialist software.there are a few of them out there. you can get serious apps like autodesk inventor 11, autocad electrical 2007, Primavera 5,etc from them.of course, it costs much more(i got the inventor for 6K) always confirm that other sellers do not have the apps.(Also, that you can't find the apps and cracks online) i bought ms office 2007 from him for 1,500 last year, but its now everywhere for 400(worse, i later found it on the apps server in the office)any way, back to story. i bought hl2 from him. got home, found an 800mb rar file on the dvd. bad sectors, i couldn´t copy it. I returned it to him.he didn´t have any other copies.

on several other visits to PC vilage, i would ask around for hl2, and the dumb pricks would shove half life:opposing force(if you ain´t played it, do!its a half life 1 addon) at me, asserting this is half life 2!.

early this year, i found a dude with half life 2.the cover featured gordon freeman and alyx vance.2cds inside.but when i got home it was hl1 and opposing force.

midway through this year, one of my pals introduced me to projectw.org, a 100% correct warez site(its off the net now). correct moderators-banned the ip address of any prick who posted  malware.anyway someone uploaded hl2.a 2.8gb file, 29 rar files of 100mb each on rapidshare.

without an account, after each 100mb download, you have to wait for 2 hours.worse, if a download stalls/crashes, you still have wait for two hours to restart.fortunately, i´m downloading from the office network.(can you imagine doing it in a cybercafe @ 1kbps, and with an unstable connection)even then, there was always the risk that the files would be deleted fom rapidshare. i did a v smart thing,i downloaded the webpage.

not too long after this, projectw´s owner yanked it off the net.halfway
(2 weeks) through the download, i return to PC village, and what do you know, some dude has hl2 on dvd.i buy it(400) take it home, and one of the 600mb zip files on the disk is corrupt. so back to the download  .finally all files are downloaded. unfortunatey one is corrupt.back to rapidshare.

i unrar the files without incident.burn them to DVD(turns out this was unnesscary) install.follow the warez instructions.(don´t really matter, it was a tweaked install)

voila! HL2! I´ve waited so long. . .

not so fast. . .
first off, everytime I start a level, there´s a message, node graph out of date, rebuildingand the screen does this crazy gamma thing for a second.thats not too bad, but on my first load of a saved game,  everybody and everything is frozen.there´s a message  on the screen 'A.I. Disabled'.

i google 'a.i disabled' and find three solutions
1)correct via developer console,
2)assign an ai enable hotkey via cfg, or
3)mod the cfg file.

the third option is the only one that truly works.the ai disabled problem and node graph only occurs on pirated versions , a fact i consistently came across in the forums i searched.

so finally hl2 is running.thats when my treacherous pc starts its own thing.at the time, there was some serious dust clogging my fan(you should have seen it, when they got it out) HOT air was blowing out  the vent, my keyboard was warm to the touch.the laptop would shut down during play or worse, the game would start to stutter. in my process explorer window, DPCs were at 75%.

oga to the rescue. my boss picked up a scrapped laptop from the company auction. I´m considered the defacto pc guru in my dept, so he asked me to help him fix it.i took it to pc village. it was fixed.hp pentium 4- 2.8 ghz ,64mb ati radeon,700mb ram(less than 15 aps on the system) (against my 1.6ghz, 128 mb nvidia geforce go6600;1.5gb ram and over 100apps any competition?)back at home, i installed hl2 on the pc, copied my cfg and save games, and voila! back in business. for the next week it was 'oga, they haven´t quite fixed it yet. . '. until HL2 was over and done with.now,  if someone can just point me to HL2 mission 1 and 2. . .

Kai!

oyb u be hardcore ooooo

u shoulda just asked us here and one of us would jejely give u a nice folder with full game, cfg files pre-modded and everything ready to go! Chei!

Then as for hl2 killing your PC, believe-that is what happened. My radeon 9200 died because of HL2. Actually it died because of NEPA, but it only went crazy when hl2 caused it to spin its fan up to max power. My old PSU also died because of HL2- power overload when i plugged in a 9800 to handle the game. Then My old 100gig hard drive went berserk due to the PSU's instability.

Kai. Gaming, eh?

episode 2 isnt out yet, episode 1 is very much out, but why don't u actually buy episode 2? I think its a good deal: there are four (FOUR) games built into the original DVD, plus STEAM membership which has many benefits. It will be out next month and pc outlet will probably carry it for 8k or something. sounds like much, but d=for hl2, eps1,eps2, team fortress and cs:source plus the ability to download and play thousands of FREE mods, don't u think it beats otigba combat? be aware you'll need an internet connection to enable it though.

Gbade.x:

Search for the full game and play. No excuses on the D-day. Also tell me what bots, difficulty levels and maps are on the demo? I'd like to know how much it is REALLY preparing you for your baptism of fire!

destructive tendency outlet: only when playing at the newbie level. When you get into the ZONE, you wont even see the giblets anymore. Its just you, your enemy, your weapon, your environment, with the sights and sounds as your guide.

A glorious fusion of man and machine

A consensual hallucination superior to any pathetic chemical substitute

A blessed union of souls- a contract between spirit and software- a divine agreement to exist- but only on the terms of the barrel of a gun

Mutually assured destruction made whole by endless turning of the wheel of ressurection: the true circle of life.

Glorious!
