From The Times November 3, 2006 Priest burns himself to death over Islam From David Crossland in Berlin A retired priest committed suicide by setting himself on fire in a German monastery in protest at the spread of Islam and the Protestant Church’s inability to contain it. Roland Weisselberg, 73, poured a can of petrol over his head and set light to himself in the grounds of the Augustine monastery in the eastern city of Erfurt, where Martin Luther spent six years as a monk at the beginning of the 16th century. Witnesses said that Weisselberg climbed into a building site next to the monastery church, where a Reformation Day service was being held. He shouted “Jesus and Oskar” before the flames engulfed him. The latter name was an apparent reference to Oskar Brüsewitz, a priest who burnt himself in 1976 in protest against the Communist regime in East Germany. Monastery staff tried to put out the flames and Weisselberg was still conscious as a nun prayed with him before he was taken to hospital. He died a day later, on Wednesday. Media reports said that he had tried to kill himself inside the church but changed his mind when he found the side door was locked. The Provost of Erfurt, Elfriede Begrich, told reporters that Weisselberg’s widow had said that he killed himself because he was alarmed at the spread of Islam and the Church’s stance on the issue. She described Weisselberg as an erudite man who had addressed repeatedly the Church’s position on Islam in meetings over the past three to four years. He had written to her, urging her to take the matter more seriously, she said. The Protestant Bishop of Saxony, Axel Noack, said the suicide had shocked the community and that he hoped it would not hurt relations between Christians and Muslims. “We in the East are still among ourselves when we discuss Islam,” said Bishop Noack, adding that there were not many Muslims in the area. Relations with Muslims have been a matter of intense debate in Germany in recent months, stoked by the cancellation of a Mozart opera in Berlin amid fears that it could provoke Muslim violence, and a speech by the Pope in September in which he quoted from a medieval text linking the spread of the Islamic faith to violence. It's not by burning himself, but rather by preaching the word. Paul could have burnt himself in Athens , seeing the idolatry going on there. But rather he turned his concerns into the preaching. Acts 17:16 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. 17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him. |

chinedumo: Dear Sir, with all due respect,it would be an insult to accuse me that i am "making the words of Jesus,Paul and other bible characters to sound like they specified particular day and they failed". i feel greatly insulted because you are accusing me of either being blind or illitrate.i did not make anything sound like something else.please read the prophecies one by one and see the time specification for yourself.i am sure you are an adult and a doctor has prescribed for you medications.so you should know when and at what time to take them.try using that exercise when reading the prophecies. |

As far as i am concern, the problem islamisthave is the voilence, they love sharing blood why? World wide they are like that. Sweetnecta: France is a secular republic since 1905, so it is strictly prohibited in an administration area no ostentatious religious symbols. In public places etc. What about the prohibition of smoking in public place? will u say its for the Muslims? anything that is dangerious to the public is what the law prohibites. The law did not prohibite Muslim women from covering, they can cover in their house if they want. This is not said against religious idea, It is just for security reasons. Anyone can hide a ANYTHING in his/her face with the pretends of covering the entire face with black for religious reason. U cant even see the eyes or nose. This law stands against everyone in France not only Muslim women, they are taking it so personal. In the school, every kid dress normal, how the muslim kid wants to go in school with their fula, and look different, They are not in an Islamic republic Country. France has given them much freedom in school for the food. (PORK MEAT) Muslims like creating problems in any public place using their relegion. The cry that their kids were given pork meat in school etc, what a complicating life. Muslim women refused to see a male Genecologist during pregnancy, this is all problem they are coursing. If u are not ok to respect a law of security in a country why not return to ur country?? And yet there have not been any prohibition laws on these area (food and doctor) so what is the problem with covering face when driving, in the airport, in the train etc endangering others lives? |
