Steven Gerrard has challenged outspoken AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso to 'stop me if you can'.
The Liverpool skipper has found himself, and his colleagues, the subject of almost constant goading from the Italian club - much of it coming from the combative Gattuso.
BENITEZ FEARS FINAL STRAIN
Gerrard has tried his best to rise above it all, even if he accepts that perhaps he started much of the antagonism by being critical of Gattuso in his recent autobiography, suggesting he was as frightening as a kitten.
But now, as Gerrard awaits Wednesday's Champions League final clash with the Italians, he insisted: “I am not going into this game worried about Gattuso.
“I am worried about AC Milan generally and I am worried about myself. My main focus is to get myself right. But if I can do that, we will see if Gattuso can stop me.
“If my form is right and I feel good, I am confident I can overcome anything Milan put in my way.

If i was Stevie G, i'D rather focus on the game than get into a slinging match with anybody --- Milan are already fired up enough as things stand; they want to come out & prove that L'pool's last victory over 'em was a fluke. Gattuso is like a man possessed normally, getting him all "fired up" will be like playing against 3 players rolled up in 1.
If this is a psychological gimmick on L'pool's part, it ain't going to work --- down-playing the whole import of the game woulda worked much more in L'pool's favor instead!

I am surprised, Gattuso is a Man who can be equated with devil himself if he should MAN-MARK any player. It takes only a very sharp dribbler to get him off.

Gattuso's game ain't about skill, goal-scoring or any of the finer aspects of the game --- his function in the Milan team is to break-up any constructive play from the opposition, which he does admirably well --- so don't be xpecting 2 see any silky skills from him tonight but the thing is that all this side-talk is going to generate a lot of hype & certain level of beef between some set of players & turn what should be a football match into a "foot-brawl" match; just the way Gattuso likes to play --- with passion & grit. |

The match will definately be aggressive, Milan will use all they have both skills and power to win that game because they have it. 1. Gattuso has spoken concerning holding Gerrard to the core and i know that means paralysing his leg if there is need for it. 2. I had alot of comment form C. Anchelotti concerning this game; he has fired alot of missiles at his counterpart Benitez, but Benitez is a man that always speaks after the game. I also heard Gerrard's comment about being concerned about the whole Milan squad. I know he is one player of class but you know he just has to accept the defeat that is waiting for him at the back door. Like the last one was called " Henry Vs Ronaldinho"some people will call it " Gerrard Vs gattuso" But i think it is LIVERPOOL VS MILAN. |
