what's this about not putting sand sand into someone's garri Huh thats definitely not what this is about neither is it a case of bad belle. The truth of the matter is the country has been on the losing side because we field a 36 year player in the super eagles and we have hopes in such a player for the long term.it doesn't take a genius to do the maths.
I thought i was the only one who found Julius Aghahowa's story to be particularly stupid.Police sargeant at the age of 19yrs.haba we should actually think deep before we open our mouths and say stuffs.
Now the backflips and somersaults have dried up Grin
please lets not talk about phillip Osondu.I beg oooo

I don't think that Martins is that old. I run into the young man recently in London, And if he's that old, he can can't be as fast as he's doing presently on the field of play.

One thing i know is that footballers cheat all over the world.
What can we say of Caprini (italy) under-16 team against Nigeria in 1987?. Cheating is cheating.

I am surprised that Papa Kanu and Papa Jay Jay are still playing, they have been on the field since
I started school,  1986   Grin Grin Grin  and at this time they were not spring chickens  Cool Cool

I know that FIFA allows four years reduction because the footballer's Career span is short, but i think our own players EXAGERRATE the reduction  Lips sealed Lips sealed

from a very relaible source
okocha late 40's
kanu 42 dot
oruma 57.
mr garba lawal between 65 and 70
taribo is in his late 50's almost 60

@ luvhenry, your 'reliable' source is very unreliable if it quotes that age for Austin Okocha. Austin's older brother (the real Jay-jay) may be over 40, but I know for a fact that Austin himself is 37 this year (I think he claims about 32-34). Why  am I so certain? I played soccer with Jay-jay in Enugu and we are about the same age - Austin was just a year older than my little cousin, born after the civil war in 1971.

listen people,
these players are old , but they are not 50 haba now Angry Angry
may be 45 or even 46 but not 50, even sports cannot keep a man active so long

I know of one cameroonian player Kala Nkongho who claimed to be 26 at the time when every body knew he had a 22 year old daughter in university in France

@ All Rumour mongers!

Aghahowa was never a police sergeant, he only played for Police Machnine FC of Benin. He may probably be older than he claims just like most Nigeria footballers with a standard deviation of +/-  5 years.

Interview with Aghahowa: African Soccer magazine  No.54 April 2000 pp 28-31

African SoccerYou were said to have joined the Nigerian police force, is this true?

Julius Aghahowa: No, that's not true. What actually happened was that, before joining Insurance FC, I played briefly for the Police Machine team. When I moved to Insurance, the fans, not knowing my name, started to call me a policeman. that was all it was. I was never a cop.

Spot on, Ika.

Some lie to get appointment for Bank/Oil Company Job. Others lie so as not to be retired.

We are a society of liars full stop.

A 25 year old is called into Eaglet camp, but alas the family is quiet, same for all his friends, neighbours, Primary & Secondary School teachers and the Press because it is in the national interest.

We don't have to be their fathers to know that they lie about their ages
When a players has played in the local leagues for 5-6 years and he would still feature for Under-17 and You-21 do you need to see their birth certs to know there is a fraud somewhere
When FIFA intoduced Under-17 it was to be played for 40 minutes for the fear of exerting the teenagers but when Naija men entered the field they were running for 3 hours non stop in 1985. Do you know Peter Ogaba played that tourney aged 13 look at your 13 year old son or nephew and Imagine how he can run and play for 90 minutes

If only these guys will learn their lesson.
its only nigerian players that retire early. the average 'limelight period' of most nigerian players is 3 years.
how many nigerian players can play like maldini at 38?

If u take a critical look at this issue the reduction is not more than five to six years
I see no reason while u guys will say Okocha is 56?Huh that's ridiculous. Shocked

For Osaze, the guy was brought up as a footballer from small, I think he is using his real age. but others I don't know
