@nynlicious OK. for the record i read ur initial post but what i meant is that what works for me is a name that reflects ur personality,u can't just drop a name from the air!since its interior design/decorating u can make it somthing that'll stick like DesygnPlace etc.U could also try something "controversial" eg. Osama,Biafra (U wouldnt get customers knocking at ur door sha!)

I want to start an oil servicing Business.
Nairaland users, please suggest a business name for me.
Wouldn't mind if its a flexible name that can also be used for other businesses if i intend to diversify to some other stuffs like having an event centre.
Thanks.

@diglo See my previous post to nynlicious Same applies to you regarding your oil servicing firm. @nynlicious Hi. Starting a business and getting a business name are very important pursuits. Your business has its core focus, its target market, core competencies and competitive advantage etc. Your Business name is very important because that is often what your prospective customers first come into contact with and it is part of your marketing communication. Picking a business name can be as easy as getting something off the top of your head or as detailed as drawing up a branding and integrated marketing communications plan.
From the information you have given it is hard to advise you professionally about choosing a business name because - 1. I don't know which country or region of that country you are contemplating openning this business ie. is it Nigeria, South, North, East, West, what language do you want to use etc. 2. I don't know your target market or your target clientele. Young, Old, Rich, Working class, V.i, Chelsea and Kessington, etc.
There has to be a philosophy behind your business name. And try to make it no more than 2 syllables. (Witness - coke, coca-cola, tesco, asda, walmart, lux, harpic, ariel, ikea etc.)
I know you thought it would be just a simple case of choosing any random name didnt you?
Sorry, I couldnt help it, I am a marketer by profession you see

My cup of tea - dreaming up names. I don't know your potential market/clientele etc and I think most peeps have given you good advice along those lines. But, in anycase, I like to play with names so here you go, have fun. 1. Neo Designs 2. Zen Living 3. Lagos Living 4. Dezines 5. [ Your Name] Interior Designs or Living - example Tayo Cole Living or Tayo Cole - Designs or Zizi or whatever 6. Accents - If you are going to be more focused on enhancing ie light enhancements7. Contempo - For contemporary designs 8. Simply Hue - get it? hue? you? Ok, I don tire jare

Name is important but some other things has to be in place. Like your position in the business category. Asume u are first in the category almost any name goes. Anyway names should not be clumsy, not bear a category name mostly when u are not first, also avoid line extension. Do not be carried away by inventions/innovations u made, let's say an automobile company is out with another car model say "HsX75(horse power+speed), etc. It'will be better to name it "Ori" and let everyone know the car with the speed and horse power engine as "Ori". A prospect will rather remember "Ori" compared to "HsX75 or 65 or 55 , that's rather confusing to remember. how may number can we store in our mind in this overcommunicate society. lots of ads, lots of car model numbers.
