I hope this post awakens someone's conciousness. Its an attempt to start a new thinking in the direction of the political situatiion of the country. For too long we have suffered under the military regime, so much that when the doors of democracy were flung open, we rushed in headlong without pausing to think whether it was the best bet for us, especially, the presidential system. The Question is: has democracy worked at all, and who has it worked for. 8 years after, and what do we have to show, that the ordinary man can say "if not for democracy"? let it not be forgotten that in all aspects of life, from polishing your shoes to building a house, we hire the BEST man for the job. So why then in our governance, do we leave the fate of our lives to a 'democratic' process. It is highly unlikely that any sound person would say that democracy produces the best person for the job. Then, why not throw democracy overboard, and get searching for the best way to get the best man.
