Anyone Here Ever Tried To 'Outscam' A Scammer?
« on: January 24, 2006, 05:12 PM »

The other day I advertised a Sony PSP for sale which apparently has attracted the attention of a 419er...

Now I'm curious...this may be a stupid question but: how much damage can he do with my name and term time address???

don't fight wit scammers. Just tell them off politely. Some of the conmen can start a new scheme wit your name and when the deed is done police(follishly..as if scammers use their realnames) will come after you. Millions of conmen in Nigeria have scammed foreigners with Charles Soludo. I pity the man. He has to either change his name or walk with escorts for the rest of his life.
As regards your address. He can cometounleash terror/kidnap or if you're outside nigeria(say usa or uk)make fake credit card orders to your address. Thats about it

Anyway this is just a way to get at you. If u don't fight or threaten them,they've got nothing on you. Scam baiting should never be done with your real names. Else be polite to those destructive people.

There are many websites that have the sole aim of combatting scams. In fact, becuase of the fact that there are so many of these websites, it has become very embarrassing to Nigeria's already battered image.Some of the 419ers are barely literate and always make blunders. Some of these websites and groups also try to outsmart the scammers:

419 COALITION, www.scambusters.org, www.scam419.com,www.scamorama.com (lads from Lagos), www.419eater.com, www.419fraud.com, www.crimes-of-persuasion.com, www.scambuster419.co.uk

@ramono, good links.

I spent a few hours last night on the www.419eaters.com website. I would advise other's to join their site or a similar site. After checking the site and consuming the site's advise, I have decided to take on some of the scammers. Why not I am not going to give any personal information, I just want to real them in and waste there time, if they are dealing with me there not spamming (As much).

Check out the photo's on the 419eater website they are v.funny.

*********TO ALL SCAMMERS WORLDWIDE! YOU WILL BE CAUGHT THEN DEALT WITH! ************

If you are looking for something to do on the net why don't you open a new email account and use it to sign guestbooks on forums and websites (try to add something usefull to the website your going to be signing a guest book on), you will soon start to receive 419 mails. Go with the flow, waster their time, see 419eaters.com for advise on how to reply to the scammers. ENJOY!
