it depends on the age of the child, the distance between the child and parents and a bunch of other factors. many kids who didn't have cell phones before got them after the 9/11 terroritst attack. that's what i heard. may be if your child goes to a school that's out of state. or really far like that. some parents just get their very little kids cell phones because their rich and the kids are spoilt. period some are for thoughtful reasons though. it's a waste of money if there's no need for it. and depending on the age of the child the parents should use some parental controls w/ the phone so they can make sure their babies aren't calling who they're not supposed to be calling. i'm talking about little kids ages 6-12. there are these fancy phones that look like toys i saw at the mall the other day. maybe they're for toddlers who knows?

I personally do not support the use of mobile phone by children.it exposures them to radioactive hazards and insecurity. Our children should know how to operate the mobile phones like, picking the phone, knowing phone etiquettes, etc but it's bad for children possessing a mobile phone. Nice weekend!

I support the fact that parents shall allow their kids to have a phona at the age of 13 or 14.The child will feel more responsible!

Parents can use mobile phones to keep in touch with their children. Their children can also use such phones to contact the parents in case of emergencies. Avoid post-paid plans at all costs to prevent exorbitant charges!

i been think say we don advance pass the level to ask such questions. gsm is for communication and we all know the importance of communication abi. if anybody can use it let them use it no matter the age. if gsm is bad for a child, then is not good for 'you'.

I'd say the kind of phone matter, they shouldn't have phone that will pollute their mind it should be a phone for 100% communication and not for other purpose. After all phones are user friendly

i support the use of fones by children, ones they are matured to use a pc,i don't c any reason why they can't use a phone.but shouldnt be bougth a xpensive phone.parents should atleast check there phone once a week,to check if any ponographic picture or anyting related to it not be on there phone.because children of nowadays can do and undo
