The man Dokubo is a confirmed terrorist. The fact however remains that the Nigerian government has not gotten enough evidence to put him in away for any crime.
It is either they charge him with possession of an unlicensed firearm and give him a light sentence pending when they gather enough evidence to bring up charges of treason, terrorism and economic sabotage, or else they free him.
Is it his fault that the government lawyers are too dull to build up a case against him despite evidence littering every cranny? Abeg they should let the man go. Perhaps when he regains his freedom, he may choose to do something very stupid that could be used against him.
And for christ sake, people should stop assuming that MOPO cannot round up the NDPVF or MEND in one week.
You guys said this same thing about Mai Tatsine, same thing y'all said about OPC, then Bakassi, now it's MEND. Okay make we dey look dey go. By the time all those bored soldiers formerly posted to Liberia start agitating for a piece of the action, na then MEND go know why they say KHAKI pass leather!

He terrorised a judge and his family but like I said, despite this being captured on video, the legal representatives of the government has still not been able to gather enough evidence against him so they should let him walk.

Well, like I said before, he should therefore be released. It is not the fault of the suspect if the persecuting lawyer is a maga.

because he threatened a judge in court he is a terrorist? thats a first, any tom dicky and harry can go and shout at a judge if they are pissed off, that don't make them no terrorists besides, Naija people are known for their empty boasting, when time to fight comes now, no one will show face. the issue is not about evidence or no evidence, if you've read the briefs, there is evidence of some meetings in Edo state where he discussed the breaking up of Nigeria. what is stalling the trial is the bail applications which have gone from high court to appeals all the way to the supreme court. now that is out of the way, they can now move to preliminary objections and other issues. I-man I try small for my understanding of court proceedings right?

he shouldn't be released or killed he and uwazurike should be tried with the law for inciting a breakaway region and disrupting the country or else someone else will do it knowing there's no repacaution. We have to have some form of law not like our leaders are good but it has to start from somewhere.

By the way, let's not keep believing blindly that if this guy is released, MEND hostilities will cease. Remember, they also want Alams to be released too. And after that, they may want Yar'Adua to kneel down and kiss Dokubo's bare butt. So I don't believe anything will change based on the release of these terrorist. But anyhow, I just don't support imprisonment without trial.
By the way, I didn't say The case against Dokubo should be built around the threat to life on a judge. Somebody ask if I'd been personally terrorised and I gave the example of a terrorised judge even captured on tape. I also said those types of video images can be used as evidence to place a light charge on Dokubo which will send him to jail legally for the mean time before the real case is built.

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) -- A court on Thursday ordered a top militant leader from Nigeria's oil region free on bail, partly meeting a key condition for ending attacks that have roiled Africa's oil giant.
Judge Peter Olayiwola ordered Mujahid Dokubo-Asari freed -- after two Nigerian citizens signed court papers as guarantors -- and said his trial would recommence when medical staff declared him fit to stand. Dokubo-Asari suffers from diabetes and other health ailments, his lawyers say.

Eiya, the guy even had diabetes sef. I suspected from the way he was looking a bit overweight, I knew it wasn't the prison food. (this is not meant to be funny).
However, I feel sorry for him when he goes back to see what a money spinning venture the MEND has turned his NDPVF into. Unless of course that was what he intended.
Well, that's one victory in the eight for human liberties. I wish the US could learn from this example.

the good news is hat it helps the government make a distinction between th legitimate groups and the criminals. those that continue their violence despite these overtures from yar adua should be treated harshly. hopefully this is a first step and the new administration invests in the ND to bring a better life to the people there

Now That he has been released, Lets watch and see just what and who these Militants are(I strongly believe they are not Nigerians). I am waiting to see them prove me wrong that they are Terrorrists just being lawless and extorting money from foreigners .How can you explain kidnapping people who are trying to construct roads in your area? Telecommunications companies trying to extend services to the areas? I comment the youth at Eleme who have had enough of these millitants who are causing them to lose jobs. I suggest they go ahead to start exposing the sponsors. The struggle has turned a whole load of criminality. They are not fighting for us anymore but for their selfish reasons and for the good of their sponsors.

When I talk say those terrorist are being sponsored person dey ask me 21 questions. Where do you think they are getting M-16 assault rifles and M60E30 belt-fed machine guns?
A Chinese oil company want to come to the area to work and they threaten hell. Yet the US government says it is going to create an African Command that will wipe them out and they take the news in their stride.
When they know that the US command will only come to arm them directly instead of using middlemen.
So na my mouth una wan hear who kill Abacha?
