Lol. Nairaland users, i just heard this for d first time. We were talkin' at school about ne-yo bein' gay. so, i told my friend that why is ne-yo gay in d first place, that only white people are known for that and that he's d only black gay dude. I was shocked when my friends (not just one person) told me that chingy is also gay. They were like "u didn't know? who doesn't know that. everybody knows". lol, am speechless right about now. Chingy doesn't look gay, doesn't act like one, unlike ne-yo. Please, people, i want to know. Did y'all know this before, is it true? i want to know. soon, they'd say chris brown is gay too. hell no!

R&B artist Ne-Yo (real name Shaffer Smith), who has written hits for Rihanna, Beyonce, and Mario Vasquez (former American Idol currently embroiled in a gay sexual harassment lawsuit), has denied gay rumours.

In August, it was rumoured that the 24-year old artist was going to come out of the closet in Essence magazine. When questioned by New York’s Albany Times Union he responded, "Anybody who knows me, knows I'm not gay.”

“I'm blessed to have very, very, very real people in my corner. Some managers will not tell the artist certain things because they don't want to stress them out,” he continued

“ My managers are like, 'Yo, it's a dirty game.' I respect them for that.”

“I look at that as I've officially made it. If my name is in your mouth, that means I'm on your mind. I take it all in stride."

Ne-Yo's debut album, In My Own Words, was released in early 2006 through Def Jam Records.

He has said that he has written songs for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Corbin Bleu and Enrique Iglesias for their upcoming albums.
