I have watched my fair share of nigerian movies since i can remember. I always wonder with the rate of movies being produced in nigeria, isnt anybody sensible enough to make the slightest of change which is costume and make up.
It seems to me the all movies follow similar costume and makeup trends.
Women
Dark makeup = lipstick, eyeshadow, nails Tight clothes unrealistic color combinations over the top mannerism ghetto queens ( dressing like working girls) and many more
men
bright colored clothes always picking up chicks on the road by chance. ( i don't know the guys name but very popular, in more that 4 movies i watch where he acted, he picked up a chick by the road, while he is walking or driving and many more
simply making changes to costume and makeup definitely changes the feel of a movie. what are the job responsibilities of a movie director in nigeria? Do they have eyes to see how the characters r dressed or how they look? Though it is going to cost more money, but it is going to improve the quality and standard compared to what is being offered now. I hope someone will realize this simple things really make a huge difference in watching a movie.
If anybody knows a movie director or part of a movie crew, kindly elaborate on the methods they pick characters, auditioning, costume assignment and makeup artists.
