I don't know why and how people wuld be so ridiculous, all they know is NOLLYWOOD ID CRAP even without checking out one movie, and not all the movies will be intresting, i don't know what u can act u can't act and people that are doing it, your condeming them *kiss teeth* I LOVE NOLLYWOOD. *Like Tade ogidan said, Before asian wuld watch any other movies they will watch Bollywood's first* I'm sorry but i have to disagree with you, you can't say people are ridiculous because they say "nollywood is crap" because it is that persons personal opinion and as far as i know there is "free speech" to express themselves in anyway as long as they do not harm anybody in the process Secondly i don't hate Nollywood but i have my own views on nollywood, i think yes! they have improved but they cannot compare themselves to HOLLYWOOD in anyway!! I patronise my country in everyway i can i support the actors and actresses ive come accross and i also let them know my views and my opinions and none of them have taken it up with me!! After all my blood cousin is a Write/ Director and Producer in Nolywood and i told her recently " I believe in Growth and i know nollywood will grow but before they can compare themselves to HOLLWOOD drastic changes have to be made!! What are the changes?? 1. They have to come up with different names to movies no more "endagered love" or Could this be love? 2. They have to diversify don't let the storylines be similar e.g the typical " prostitute scenarios" they should be able to be more creative 2. They should get liscense to shoot abroad instead of using camorders and not even talking while they are showing the scenes of the supposed London or America 3. Also please don't shoot scenes in hotels saying thats america!! 4. The base pay in nigeria for actors and actresses is nt 1/4 of what they get in hollywood so boom goes the statement "nollywood is like hollywood'!! I'm just expressing my self, feel free to disagree or agree tis a free country!!

There are some nigerians movies which worth to be watched but some are not especial those with witchcraft. They show a bad picture, like I remember a frend of mine from Denmark came to SA and we were watching nollywood movies on chanel 102 on DSTV and its like all three movies in a row has something to do with witchcraft, and my frend was like from which countries this movies are from then I said Nigeria then she was like are people there real practising witchcraft alot or why all the movies are like this, then I said I realy don't know but this is what we get on TV. Then I told her that there are some real good movies (nollywood) to watch.

yes i said some people are ridiculous, so? He said Nollywood is 90% crap. Also, im not saying the person shouldnt say his/her opinion, ofcourse as uve said it a free speech, so thats why i gave my opinion too. Lots and lots, even nollywood actors says that alot. but they cannot compare themselves to HOLLYWOOD in anywayi know rite, but afterall it growing. and thanx for listing the changes it have to undergo before nollywood can be compared to hollywood

Desmond Elliot At first glance, Desmond Elliot seems like an exciting actor, his boyish face and charms certainly add to his appeal. However after watching a few of his roles he becomes redundant and somewhat disappointing.
His movies lack authenticity and most of the times he seems as though he's trying to conceal the character or trying to displace his nationality with a very bad mimickery of a foreign accent. A fair amount of his movies have predicatble storylines before you get past the first scene. Although the writers are to blame for much of this, Desmond delivers his characters monotonously. He's definitely one of those actors who grow on you because they're recognizable but it is hard to appreciate his talent and humor. If you're looking for a good movie starring Desmond or just a good Nollywood flicks period check out 'Missing Angel', 'Games Women Play" and 'Behind Close Doors'

Ini Edo The first few times you see Ini Edo, it can be hard to focus on her acting skills, without noticing her beauty. Along with her talent, her shapely figure and attractive facial features command the attention of her fans and viewers.
After a while, however, we have no choice but to get past the obvious. Ini captivates her audience with her skills and impressively expresses a growing mastery of her art. Although Ini is no beginner in Nollywood, she only made her debut in 2003 with the movie "Thick Madam".
Ultimately the current ban on certain actresses accused of monopolizing the industry has allowed Ini step out of the shadows and into the forefront. Today she stands as one of the hot actresses revitalizing Nollywood with refreshingly new talent and her 'girl-next-door-keeping-it -real' personae. This can be seen in movies like "World’s Apart" and "Indecent Girls" where Ini played leading roles. With time Ini will continue to blossom and take on challenging roles. She is definitely one to keep an eye one

Nkiru Sylvanus Pick, at random, any movie starring Nkiru Sylvanus and chances are she's probably crying through half the movie. In most of her roles Nkiru is often the victimized character that must rise up against the injustices inflicted upon her thereby becoming superb heroine. In most of her roles Nkiru is often the victimized character that must rise up against the injustices inflicted upon her thereby becoming superb heroine. A role such as that gets boring after a while and after seeing her cry in every other movie most times one may want to jump in the movie and slap the tears out of her character. Thankfully she is reinventing herself as a versatile actress by accepting and executing new character roles. One of the likable things about Nkiru is how easily she fits in traditionally themed movies.
She has a very down to earth, non-grandiose, albeit non glamourous and ordinary aura that draws the affection and appreciation. Even though she's starting to act in modern movies, it is refreshing to see her incorporating her trademark naivete and personable gentleness in this genre as well. A movie like 'My father's love' gets one all misty eyed and emotional, engrossed in the story and eventually angry with some of the characters. If you've never seen any movies starring Nkiru this movie is wholeheartedly recommended.

Chidi Mokeme Did someone say delicious? Frankly, one could careless if he's dressed in a bright yellow banana costume with Gucci pumps on and a red hat.
If he is in the movie, then it's watchable and if not for anything else than for the 'eye-candy' factor. Honestly, Chidi is by no means the best Nollywood actor and his acting skills while up to par are in no way impressive or distinctive. As the token Nollywood hunk, Chidi’s looks makes up the points his acting lacks. Word on the street is that he also has a bank of money to go along with the tall, dark and handsome nature that he is. As long as he remains a cutie and that rock hard body keeps glistening Chidi will always have a strong fan base and his movies will always be popular.

Ive been stuck with friends who spend their life watching nollywood movies on africamagic for about a month now and i kid you not, I actually lost 15 units of I.q during this period. I really had to concentrate hard in order to post on this thread. See the potential damage to our kids???!!! who are being raised on dullywood? If i was the president i'll ban 99% of the movies and imprison genevieve and omotola 4 daring to become musicians!! WHAT!!!?? the absolute crap they feed us on tv is no longer enough 4 them!!! MUSt they invade our radios TOo? I'll send all the other actors to concentration camps where they'll be more productive to the society digging holes on the ground and covering them back up. Then I'll send Oge okoye to solitary confinment and then i'll send all nollywood SCRIPTWRITERS and DIRECTORS to the firing squad. I'll shoot them all personally for the hours of torture theyve subjected me to, WE are a society that celebrates MEDIOCRITY!!!!! Nollywood does more damage to nigeria's image than the 419'ers. I was watching a movie calld life of sorrow or somthng with a few american friends who were over at my house and i was sooo embarrased. I'm seriously looking for a way to pay back in their own coins anyone whos responsible for nollywood
