Travel To The Uk
« on: June 07, 2007, 09:44 PM »

I intend travelling to the UK for holiday sometimes in August,i have already gotten an invitation letter to back up my application.But a friend saw my bank statement and pointed a new dimension to the whole scenario.Initially i had a balance of over a million but i presently have a balance of about 80k.Is there really any big deal about my balance or the flow of my account.Someone knowledgeable should help me out by throwing more light on this issue.

I'm not an expert on this matter, just hang on, those who know better would soon fill in posts, Vikiviko surely would know better.

Surely, you are here just to malign the inputs of another person. The issue here does not warrant the name calling you just did.

@ topic,
You were not detailed with your post. What do you do? How did you come about the amount in your account? How financially stable are you? When you have such an amount in your  account, why do you want to travel out of the country? All this and lots more will be asked. More so, when did the a million naira in your account now go into?

@vicjustice
some times i felt that you only see negative in other people's efforts, please try to encourage rather than ur way of condemning everything, i wonder if you are the real person in that pic plus your status as a married/ med DR. please play that role.
this guy need your candid advise, do so or stay away, rather than calling an innocent person's name

@Vicjustice,

There is a difference between stating your opinion on a matter and witch hunting. There is no need to target particular individuals. People make mistakes and get over it.

@Armed lion

How come you always use vicjustice's comments or always defend him?.

He is either your close friend or alter ego.

Can people please stop using multiple ids? Angry

Imani, Vikiviko is not the bad guy that i thought he was, i've investigated him and i saw a humble sincere man in him. He's now my pal, and i see no obvious reason to oppose him.
  It wasn't ironical when i said that he (Vikiviko) knows better, i meant it, he actually knows much about immigration issues and embassy matters, so, i'D expect him to contribute here: He won't be pissed off because, he knows i'm for him. Can you see that i've withdrawn my posts about him?
   As for Armed_lion, he is my pal in Greece.
   Good to see you here, how are you Amani?

What's your deal?About 2 relocate when u're everywhere already?Greece, Germany, Baltics, Ireland, Spain,Wherenext.
Anyways, it would have been cooler if you could conceal your multiple id's by having different personality types representing each ID.Make it kind of discreet.Be a little bit smart about it.
It's against nairaland rules though.
Take care and keep smiling.

Please, for your own good, don't go to the British embassy with an 80,000 naira balance on your  bank statement.That can't even buy you a flight ticket.
The balance is more important than the flow.The purpose of the balance is to prove that you have enough money to cover your expense and that you are comfortable enough in Nigeria, hence you would return.
The reason for the importance of the flow is first , to support the authenticity of your balance (against bloating) and secondly,to prove that you have been engaged financially and the pattern of your engagement.

Please don't go to the british embassy with a balance of N80,000. Get somebody that can act as a sponsor or get someone to place some good cash in your account on a regular and over a period, leave a healthy balance, print it , then go.
Wish you da best!!

 I do not hold grudges against anyone, and i'm not a trouble maker, my intentions were to hinder unfair moves to dupe or scam people who want to travel: i know many people who have lost great deal of money to travel fraudsters, or that have been deceived to travel to places where they are frustrated and in desperate need to return to Nigeria empty handed: A childhood pal of mine is a victim, he lost more than a million Naira only to find himself in a place like Bahrain, a tiny island in the Persian gulf/east of Saudi Arabia, north of Qatar (the country is so tiny that you can barely see it in the middle east map except if zoomable).
  Of course he was deceived to believe that there is a greener pasture for him once he gets there. To make things even worse, his poor family celebrated his travel success. Thus feeling the weight of the shame to return to Nigeria empty handed, he overstayed his visa and his returned ticket. He called me several times for help, i could only send him some money, but that wasn't what he wanted, he expected i could help him get to Europe. But that was absolutely impossible since he hadn't a residence permit for Bahrain to enable him apply for a visa from there, and worst still, his visa had expired: The desperate guy had other suggestions, he thought he could "vanish" into other countries closer to Europe and then, he would cross over. As you can see in the map bellow, Bahrain shares no bother with any country.
  It was difficult to persuade him to return to Nigeria and take other safe means for Europe. At this time, i had no choice than to warn him that his plans is as risky as trying to swim across some crocodile infested rivers and that i wasn't going to send him further money except for his ticket back home.
   When i said "crocodile infested rivers", i wasn't referring to the sea itself, i was actually referring to the land-border crossing, first of all, there are countless number of forgotten or abandoned, or even undetected land mines at various border sides of the middle east; also, you all know how much we fear Arab people in terms of kidnap and other terrifying activities. So, i don't think it's an ideal to trespass their borders especially for someone with a name like Christopher.
  I eventually had to buy his ticket myself because i feared he would use the money to substain himself (as he had been doing) and that would make him stay longer in Bahrain with the pressure on me.
  He's now back in Nigeria, but he's yet to recover from his ordeal. His terrible experience is not something anybody would like to pass through.
   My outspoken spirit has earned me some negative responses and people have called me names and insulted my personality, but who am i not to expect insult? Well, nobody (they say) is perfect, i'm a nobody just one other user of this versatile forum.
  I want to use this opportunity to make it clear that i'm not against anybody who's doing his business, whether you're a Travel Agent, Helper Consultant or Tout, i just wish that in any condition, you guys should explain the true circumstance of the situations in the destination countries.
   I however wish to apologies to anyone who personally take offence at my posts as they weren't intended to hurt or offend anyone.
   Long live Nairaland!

@Vicjustice
I feel you man. Its a very honorable thing for anybody to try hard to protect people(even those not known to them) from fraudsters.I applaud the courage.

The only problem I had with you, was the vehemently negative approach you were applying. You are quick to cast a slur on people without proper research first.
Vikoviko for instance- His postings might not have been very professional, but Nairalanders that he met with seem to appreciate him so well.
To tarnish the image of such a good man(according 2 Nairaland users), in the name of trying to protect people is not a very honorable thing.
You really worked hard at trying to slander his image, and I think it was very,very improper.

Anyways it's cool that you guys made up, but it would do more good for you to take out all the negative postings you made about him.I think he would appreciate it more.

Keep fighting, but positively. Put a smile on people's faces, I think the World would be a better place that way.

I saw your comments on the Calabar thread.Thanks a lot man. I appreciate it.

Thanks man for the explanation. Nice 2 know the meaning.I think I'm satisfied.
 I asked because the former Governor of New York(1995-2006) had the same name-George Pataki. And he's white. So I always wandered why an American answered a name that sounded Yoruba. Nice name though.

@ PAPA BROWNE,

I stongly disagree over the issue of you having a lot of money in your bank account before a visa is issued. The purpose of showing your statement of account is only to see the flow of money (in and out) and to ensure that you have a job that is y u will still need to back your statement of account with your PAY SLIP.

A friend of mine was able to secure a visa with 25k in her account. what about that?

Tell them Kgirl, my cousin got a visiting visa with just 58k only in her salary account,
but a good inflow and attractive payslips, plus leave permit and introduction letter  from a strong standing coy
here in Naija.
