Do any of you know if there's any film footage of the Nigerian Civil war available for public access, and if so how I can get a hold of it

Several media houses keep showing footages of the war especially during the independence cerimony.

Channels tv in Maryland ikeja show those clips. NTA also has a documentry which prof ali mazuri used in his documentry.
It could also be found in Nigerian film archive in jos.
The BBC in london would equally have clips since they extensively covered the war. I hope that helps.

And by the way, why d'u want it anyway? U want to start another war?

Thanks for the reply. No, I'm not interested in starting another war.  Smiley I'm a military history buff, and love watching military documentaries showing film footage of past wars, and of lately I've been reading up on the Nigerian Civil war, and to get a better feel of the reading I would love to be able to in company with reading about it--- get the opportunity to sit a watch a movie or film commentary of the incident, much in the same way that the history and military channels here in the US do for past American military engagements.

And be ready for some dribbling when trying to obtain official materials like that from nigdria's official quaters. Its not always easy except you befriend someone in there.

If you're reading books on nig's civil war have you read adewale ademulegun's Why We Strubk? He's the only surviving member of the team that planned the first coup in 1966. There's also a book by col. Madiebo, one of the biafran top brass. Then the ex-president's book, My Command may just be good for some perspective from the nig side. Prof soyinka's The Man Died may also add perspective.
