Ban On Public Smoking In The Uk, Possible Effects?

I've been thinking of the effects that the banning of public smoking in the uk would have on the millions of smokers in the uk and non-smokers.

The two possible effects it might have on the smokers may be
1) They would have to forcefully cut down on their smoking or
2) They would get so frustrated about not being able to smoke freely that they might harm themselves or people around them.

Generally, I think the ban on smoking will make smoking another exciting adventure. People would start talking of their smoking escapades.
