http://www.nextengine.com have developed a $2500 3D scanner that can scan 3D objects. Finally I can get a chance to have a 3D model of the girls on Nairaland on my PC. I wonder how the results would be like. Imagine the uses: games, gis, virtual tours, ........

It's been out for awhile but a lot of people will continue the old fashioned way for years to come. This kind of technology usually takes a lot of tweaking before absorption into mainstream VFX. For now it's going to be mostly Lightwave/XSI/Silo/Max/Zbrush/Mudbox/Modo combo.
