How And Where Can I Chip My Ps2?

Hey peeps,
I have had a Ps2 for ages, the first bulky one, PAL version, i never chipped it because i was concerned that it might no more play dvds and it might just start acting up! am sure in like a year or so it'll become obsolete.  Am wodering if i can still get it chipped, if i can? where? and like how much would it cost me?
