and the occassional expense now and then to do up your home.
Assume you earn 8000pounds per month, after all the spending, you simply want to spend the rest on a good vacation and send money to those that matter.

The simple fact that this trend repeats itself with everyone that leaves naija for some western country should tell you that its not being stingy or selfish, it is just the way it is.
I was in Nigeria a just 2 months ago after 7 years and boy was i in for a shock.
One thing (and i think this is also very true in europe):
Because of the economy, a lot of people spend their productive years sittin around doing NOTHING.
Someone mentioned that people in naija are lazy and I completely disagree! The same Nigerians placed in "land of opportunity" are the MOST successful. Shey na engineer, scientist, Dr., lawyer, just name it.
Ask anyone who's ever been to a professional conference and they'll tell you that we are well represented.
