There are so many ways to skin a cat. You can either pay for traffic or get it for free. Free traffic may not be instant but if you can wait a while, they will surely come. Just like Eyimofe said, writing of articles, good ones o, is one sure way of bringing targeted traffic to your website. I use this as my number one source of traffic and I have witnessed a surge in the traffic to the website I promote with my articles. TEs are useful source of traffic if only you know how to use them get the desired result.
You also have to determine the kind of traffic you are looking for. People that will just look
at your site and go away or people that will take the desired action? Some don't even look
at it, they just wait for the time alloted to elapse and they move on to the next site they are
mandated to see.

Attracting web traffic to your site is easy, if your site is selling or providing a service that is needed i.e . Job portals or site. Sites like these really don't need that much advertising, as the unemployed part of the society will gladly spread the word on your behalf. If you sell or offer other services, and your target viewers are nigerians, located both locally and internationally, then you must advertise. Online advertising is becoming a new thing in Nigeria at the moment, did anyone notice "Dangote's Suger Shares Promo" on hotmail, or "First banks shares promo" on hotmail as well. Luckily, there are some nigerian portals, that have alot of free advertising like services. http://directory.qboxx.comis a good place to start, you can submit your website to their free website directory. This will help bring traffic to your site as users search for a product related to yours. |

If you get 1 million people visiting your site everyday and none is buying from you then you will be wasting money since the bandwidth will be paid for.
1. What products or services do you render that makes you think that people coming to your website will like to buy from you and not the other person?
2. What is you target audience? Without having a clear cut answer then you are already off the mark because 500,000 people that don't need your services visiting your website is worse than just 20 people that actually need your services.

Me think the keyword is knowing who your target audience is. When you know this, then you will know where they are and how to get them. Are they offline or online? You must be able to answer this first and foremost.  |

Hi, A good question, I always use forums. as simple as that. If you go to forums like www.gurusland.com/forum/www.nairaland.cometc. All you need to do post, post post and keep posting and responding to other members posts. Traffic to your site can come in several ways,
to start, choose one and concentrate on it,till you are successful inti, then go for another.
one of the place where i draw traffic from is articl submission. thi can continue to bring traffic to you year in, year out.

I did not notice this topic before I started another one titled TRAFFIC at the webmaster's section. You may need to check it. there is a link there.
If you go to that site, you will discover a whole lot more website handling solutions to traffic. These site are essentially the same site handling things differently.
Best of it is that the services can be gotten free.
Please consider very well some of the strategies mentioned above. They may be time consuming but will achieve a long term solution. For example articles submition can be very tedious expecially when you need to signup/signin before you can submit just one article while you wish to submit to about 70 directories.
If you don't mind spending, you might buy some targeted traffic.
I am presently looking into a site promising 1,000,000 visitors and about $700,000 returns. It is a money making system. I will come up with it when I'm sure about it.
