this error usually shows when your windows operating system is not genuine. you can download a windows validation crack/removal from the net, then log in through safe mode and install the crack to remove the error message.
but the best option is to reinstall your windows with a genuine or original cd i.e if you can afford it

Your Best bet is to get a Original Installation Disc from Authorised Outlets.

Get a genuine copy of winXp,  that is what will solve the problem. Another solution could be if you enable Systems Restore but you must have enable restore point on the computer so much so that as soon as you introduce any program the systems does a restore point on that day that that new program was introduce. You can fine System Restore on the SYSTEMS PROPERTIES box

so if you have not created any restore points, then you do not have a choice but to get a genuine copy of WinXP.

I've uploaded what you need on rapidshare.

http://rapidshare.com/files/40768166/Windows_XP_Genuine_Reg_Key.rar.html

Just download the file,

double-click on "Make Genuine" registry file

Double-click on "Diagnostic tool" to see the new status of your OS.

Believe me, if you receive any virus from this, i'll give you my girlfriend.

I n z e

Let me know when u've downloaded it so i can delete it from rapidshare.

system restore can solve it. but if you do not have any restore point, u have to look for genuine.exe to delete manually and one other dll file that has the geunine logo. since they will be running, you kill them with task manager b4 deleting. i had the same problem but this is what helped me.

Inze has said it all, download the crack file from the link provided, but rapishare has problems downloading, I would advise you to use google for a cracked version of Windows Genuine Advantage and install while in safe mode. That will solve the problem, but must it be cracked, buy the original windows genuine advantage now. Grin
Make sure u disable Automatic updates in future.

open task manager (ctrl+alt+del) button should do that, then u'll  5 tabs (application, processes, performance, networking and users).hit the processes tab and u'll see some file names.these are the files running in the background of your system.
be very careful!!!!!!

look for genuine.exe click on it once and hit the end process button. this will bring up a warning, ignore the warning, its just a precaution.

after you stop the file from running. go to my computer and search for the file ''genuine.exe''. when you find it go to the folder where it is.it may be in C:/windows folder if u have that folder on your system.

in that folder you will also find a .dll file with the same asterik logo that genuine.exe has.
delete genuine.exe it will go away use ctrl+del so that it wont go to your recycle bin.
then rename that .dll file( i can't remember the name, t'was a long while ago i did mine) by removing the extension.
If your system has the folder to hide known extensions u can disable that function by going to the folder button on the task bar of my computer and look for folder options .check do not hide known extensions
right click on that file and hit rename.
rename to whatever u like but make sure the .dll part is out.
then u can safely delete that one as well.(ctrl+del)
these are the files that keep giving that message

After all these make sure u disable automatic updates.at best put it on the option of notify me before downloading.

try this if it doesnt work then i'll do it again on my system and tell u what i missed out ( if i missed out anything)

If you are not ready to buy original software from microsoft or
any original software seller don't bother to open up your PC for new update from microsoft
cos I was once a victim of it,
then I was enjoying their update till they took over my desktop background picture
and the most annoying part of it is that they crash my DVD drive so that I can buy their product.
I have to format my system before it could be ok.

you can always allow update but dont allow it automatically and watch out for the update "Windows Genuine Advantage Notification", uncheck it if downloaded along with the updates and update the others.

First of all, thanks for all the info here! Especially the rapidshare link, that really works.
However when I restart my computer the message comes back again,  Is there a simple (I don't know too much about computers) solution to make it go away forever? All I read is restarting in safe mode, delete this file etc etc, sounds kinda difficult and I don't want to mess things up since this isn't my computer!

Thanks for your help

Click on "All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore. Restore your computer to the last date you did an update. This worked for me. Try it for yourself.

That link is dead. It produced an ERROR that says "ERROR: This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.

Anyone with any other brilliant ideas??? Highly welcome!

Format the system with any cd, either fake or original.

Contact someone who is good in cpt like me or perhaps no boasts (segsalerty) to give you a licence key.

That should do.
