Nowhere in the Bible does it say that men are superior to women. Nor does it say that women should be subservient and only be a helper to the husband. The Bible refers to men as being the head of the family as Jesus is the head of the church. Now, that's the role men are Biblically supposed to hold, most men don't do so well with the rest of the Biblical principles so why do they hold so desperately to the idea of ruling over women? The overall message of the Bible is not that one should rule over the other, but that they should be equal partners in relationship and family, the man is meant to lead as an example, not as a tyrant. If you want to bring Christianity in to it, the Bible doesn't support the idea of inequality among the sexes.

Women and men are equal. They have the same right to dignity and life etc.
They do nat have equal roles and positions in the family.
The way a woman can run her household, cook, clean , go to work, all at once, hadly any man can cope.
It is a woman that makes a home, not because she is the head but because she accepts the man as the head.
When a woman has respect and tolerance for her husband the marriage works out alot better.
When a woman is always respectful and doesnt raise her voice etc. The man with time also treats her the same way. The children also learn from watching their parents.

May i ask why many of you use the bible to prove point?
looking at it that way God also punished man and woman saying that man should Work and woman bear children in pain .But Today women are doing both.
In a relationship one gender is always stronger than the other.
But personally I cannot see a Man (that i share my bed with ) as my master

The bible did say the man is the head of the family and this should not be taken in the same context of being a master. Anyway, why would you want to be a master to the woman you love? If you refer to yourself as a master/superior then you are saying she is a slave/inferior. So where is the love?
In my opinion, my fiancee/husband is the head of the house as Jesus is to the church. I will respect and honour him as the Lord says a woman should be submissive.
I encourage all ladies to pray that God should give them a man who will share everything with them and not lord over them or become a master.
Men should walk hand in hand with women. It's not about being equal or superior, it's about seeing ourselves in the same way and respecting each other for the positive contribution we bring to life and our relationship.

there is no need to argue back and forth over this man and woman exist solely as partners to each other it is left to each society to say how it wants its individual to relate. biologiclly a woman can not be equated to a man and otherwise. evrything in nature has order that iswhy in some animals females are always treated as queens. its just the order of things.
talking about rights there is nothing a woman enjoys that a man does not enjoy who says a woman does not have the right to freedom of speech and co. its just women are always looking for excuses.

Here's part of a presentation I made in class last semester. As always, I advocate gender equality:
Since time immemorial, women have lived in a world in which what they should or shouldn’t do have been dictated by men. In as male-dominated a society as this, it is not surprising that women have had little or no say in matters that concern them, until fairly recently – even then women are still a long way off from the goal of achieving equality with their male counterparts in every walk of life.
The situation can be explained by men feeling threatened by the incursion of women into areas previously designated as ‘men-only.’ Traditionally, women were fit for only child-bearing, preening themselves for men’s appreciation and housework – ‘jobs’ that men look down on as being below their dignity to perform. It can be seen that men’s discomfort arises from women refusing to play the roles men have decided on for them.
It is my belief that men and women should be raised equally, with no discrimination against either sex. It would have been very dubious for certain norms to exist, had the world not been viewed through male-biased lenses. A man is considered a ‘stud’ when he sleeps with many women but a woman is considered a whore if the roles are reversed. A woman is perceived to be very proud and rude if she is dominant and assertive but such attitudes are encouraged in men. Until recent times, victims of rape have found themselves stigmatized because of the male tendency to shift the blame, and most women find that they cannot rise above the so-called ‘glass ceiling’ in their workplaces.
I believe the world would be a better place if men took on some roles women play and vice versa.

I need to ask the ladies this question: WHO SAYS WOMEN DO NOT HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS WITH MEN ?
What is it that a man is allowed to do that women are hindered from doing, except either where the task is too physically tedious for a woman or it is biologically impossible for her or she is unfortunate to live in one of those wrong countries where women are generally oppressed.
It beats me bangers when ladies in a free country continue to ask for equal rights, which they already have.
Nobody stops a woman from becoming President,CEO,business tycon,etc
A husband won't stop the wife from helping to pay the bills
In the court of law a woman gets justice just like a man
Women progress to the top of their careers
Women are paid same salaries as their male colleagues
She is given jobs
She can pick any career she wants
She has freedom of speech and association
She can make her own decision
Etc
What exactly is this EQUAL RIGHTS you ladies are hammering about .
Or do you want to be allowed to go and dig up Pit Latrines and toilet Soakway like men ?
If you want such a job babe,you are welcome to have it.
Truth is that women like anybody else, are only limited by themselves and not be some fictious lack of equal rights with men.

I would rather say it depends on the nature of the job. If they're both doing the same jobs, performing the same roles and carrying out their responsibilities equally, I see no reason why they shouldn't get the same pay. |

I'm sorry, but I'm not religious, so I can't fairly link any part of gender equality to the bible. I would say that we've come a long way as far as equality goes, but we are not always equal. You all made some great points though!  |

Though the capacities of each person may be different, the opportunity to make a contribution to the advancement of civilisation must be available to women and men alike.
That's why children should be taught when growing up to always have great respect for the opposite sex !!
